Training on Electronic Voting Machines

Namchi, January 4th (IPR): District collector (South) Mr. Prabhakar Verma inaugurated a hands on training on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter-Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) for Electoral Registration Officer (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AEROs) alongwith the Supervisors of South District at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Center, Namchi today.

The training was conducted by National Level Trainer cum SDM (Kabi) Mr Mahesh Sharma. The programme included a hands on training for the district officials on EVM and VVPAT they were also informed about the nuances and workings of the EVM / VVPATs machines.

Speaking, during the training DC Mr. Verma urged all the officials to take full advantage of the training session, to clear any doubts and practise on the demonstration EVM machines so that the officials are well prepared for conducting the ensuing general elections to be held this year. During the course of the training, all the officials were also given a set of Demo machines to practise with and familiarise themselves.

It maybe mentioned here that similar training shall be imparted to the Booth Level Officers (BLO) of all Assembly constituencies by the ERO/AEROs during this month in order for the BLOs to be equipped and can in detail transmit similar kinds of hands on training at the BAC level/ PS in their jurisdiction as part of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activities of South District.

One Day EVM and VVPAT Training Program at Kyongsa, West Sikkim completed successfully

Gyalshing, 3rd January, 2019 (IPR): A One Day EVM and VVPAT Training Program organized for EROs, AEROs and Supervisory Officers of the West District was organized by the CEO Office, Gangtok at the New Warehouse, Kyongsa, West Sikkim. Shri. Karma Lodey Lepcha, ADC (W), Shri. Tashi Tshering Bhutia, Addl. Dir. (CEO) along with SDMs and BDOs of the West District were present in the Training Program. Shri. Mahesh Sharma, State Level Master Trainer on VVPAT and EVM was the resource person for the Program.
Shri. Karma Lodey Lepcha, ADC (W) asked the participants to make proper use of the training which is very crucial for every participant to understand and take up seriously. He asked the concerned BDOs to install the VVPAT and EVM Machines at the Rimbi Maghey Mela 2019 so that the public can be made aware of the machines functions and services. He also requested the BDO Gyalshing to make proper arrangements to install the similar machines at the Gyalshing Bazar Area for demonstration to the public.
The program was conducted to enhance the skills required by the personnel to understand the working of the VVPAT and EVMs prior to the General Elections of 2019. The Resource Person Shri. Mahesh Sharma gave an in depth training on how to properly use the functions of the machines and to cope up with the technical difficulties if faced during the working of the machines.
