SUMMARY OF COVID 19 HEALTH BULLETIN

Total new cases in the past 24 hours = 14 (all on RTPCR).
10 from East District and 4 from South District.
Out of the 10 cases in East District, 3 were from Group D Quarter of Post Office near Raj Bhawan Complex. They were secondary contacts of the lady from Working Womens’ Hostel Deorali.
The remaining 7 cases were reported from District Hospital Singtam which comprised of 2 from Rangpo, 1 from Majhitar, and 4 from Mamring.
Out of the 4 cases reported from South Sikkim, 1 was from Majhigaon in Jorethang and 3 from Alkem Pharmaceuticals Samardung.
The DG-cum-Secretary also shared details of the 17 year old female with comorbidities (brain surgery recently) from Dentam Subdivision who tested positive on Rapid Antigen Test today.
The patient had undergone treatment from 23rd to 26th July in District Hospital Namchi. Hence, the South District Administration has declared the Paediatric, Emergency, Medicine and X-Ray Departments as Containment Zones.
It was informed that the patient would be shifted to Covid-19 wing of STNM Hospital tomorrow morning.
All the members of her family tested negative on Rapid Antigen Testing.
In other good news, 88 SSB personnel lodged in Melli-Aching Camp in West Sikkim have tested negative for Covid-19.

SDM HQ Namchi inspects 16th Km area along Tarku Ravangla NH

Namchi,30th July (IPR): A team of officials namely SDM, HQ (Namchi), Shri. Chiran Rizal,
DPO(South) Shri. Abishek Kharel, SHO(Temi PS) Anupa Gurung, SI (Temi PS) Shri. Roshan Pradhan alongside Revenue Surveyor (Tarku Circle) along with concerned Ward Panchayat and Project Manager (S&P Infrastructure Developers Pvt Ltd) inspected 16th Km area along Tarku Ravangla NH today.
The team inspected the damages insinuated by incessant rainfall further vitiated by improper construction works of the company. It may be added that the road is under the supervision of NHIDCL. Upon inspection it was revealed that a series of slides had also occurred along the road causing road blockage at many places.
At the outset, the SDM and his team inspected the houses endangered by the series of slides in the area. The SDM directed the PM (S & P) for shifting of 18 households to a safer location taking cognizance of the fact that further slide would occur taking into consideration the ensuing monsoon. The SDM also had a brief interaction with the public wherein he requested them to cooperate with the Project Manager and enable him to get them shifted to a safer location. Upon their visit, it was found that the run off water above the house of Smt. Renuka Rai seemed to have triggered the slide, the SDM therefore exhorted the company team to take up temporary measures to divert the water to nearby drain. The report of the same has been submitted to DC South and an order under DM Act 2005 shall be issued by DC South for evacuation and other preventive measures to be taken up by the company under the provisions of the act.
The team later visited the house of Smt Jashoda Poudyal. It is pertinent to add here that, a private stakeholder V K Jain Pvt Ltd is carrying out the road construction work wherin the slide has occured right below the incumbent’s house causing severe damage to cattle shed and the dwelling house. The family has already been shifted to Khadi Building and are safely housed.
Further, the team also made a brief halt at Amalay village below Lower Tanak to clear the apprehension of the public regarding the issue ongoing issue of Man Kind Pharma Pvt Ltd in the area. The public was thus made aware of all necessary information regarding the protocols issued for Covid 19 followed by District Administration. Lastly the team met and verified the documents of the employees of Man Kind Pharma who had earlier been tested and reported negative for Covid 19 through RT – PCR prior to allowing them to enter South Sikkim

Sealing of contaminated wards of Namchi District Hospital was overseen by Incident Commander ADC South

Namchi, 30th July (IPR): As, per the declaration of Emergency Ward, Medical Ward, Pediatric Ward and X-Ray alongwith CT Section of Namchi District Hospital as contaminated areas, sanitization and sealing of these wards were done by the South District Administration which was overseen by Incident Commander ADC (South) Mr. Satyan K. Pradhan and was accompained by District Medical Superintendent Dr S.N. Adhikari
