Gyalshing, 31st Oct.(IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) inaugurated Sikkim Professional University, New Campus at 8th Mile, Budang Soreng, West Sikkim, today. The function geared up with the National Anthem, Saraswati Vandana and lamp lighting.
Present at the inauguration were Hon’ble Deputy Speaker (SLA) Shri Sangay Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister Power & Labour Shri MN Sherpa, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Horticulture & Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Loknath Sharma, Hon’ble MLAs including Shri GT Dhungel and Shri Aditya Golay, Press Advisor to HCM Shri C.P Sharma, Political Secretary to HCM Shri Jacob Khaling, Advisors, Chairman/Chairpersons, Add. Chief Secretary, Education Department Shri G.P Upadhayay, Chairman (SPU) Shri Hemant Kumar Goyal, Spiritual Leader Maharaj Shri Rishiraj, Lt. General, Dr AK Misra (Retd) VC, Mangalyatan University, Jabalpur, Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Faculty Members (SPU), Zilla Panchayats, Panchayats, Officials, Dignitaries and others.
During the inauguration program, the Hon’ble Chief Minister congratulated the State of Sikkim for this marvelous achievement in the field of education. He mentioned that the Sikkim Professional University is a blessing to the people of Sikkim especially West Budang where local people can be benefited from vibrant jobs and business opportunities. Students too will be benefited from the state itself in seeking further education. He further articulated that the state government is relentlessly working in prioritizing good and quality education. He extended his deepest gratitude to all the Members of the (SPU) for taking up the initiative in establishing a University Campus at Budang West Sikkim which will provide avenues for the upcoming youths of State.
The Chief Minister also stated that the State Government has been continuously working to tackle the COVID-19 situation in Sikkim. He also announced that with the availability of Corona Virus Vaccine, it would be distributed free of cost to the people of Sikkim but until then, he urged people to be cautious and continue to follow the three key measures.
While speaking on the State Government’s policies, the Chief Minister mentioned the increasing infection of kidney and cancer patients in the state and informed cancer hospital is being established at Karfectar, Jorethang South Sikkim with the latest technology and well equipped. He mentioned the enhancement of old-age pension by the present government. He assured us to provide full infrastructure to Chakung Science College which will fall under the center of excellence. The Chief Minister also mentioned the production of incentives for those who produce more agricultural products.
The Chief Minister highlighted the mobile village clinic to each village with well-equipped vehicles and the availability of all kinds of medicines. He also informed about the dialysis machines that have been installed within Sikkim. He further informed that Foreign Registration Office at Rammam check post, West Sikkim will be soon operated to enrich the tourism sector in the state. He mentioned that development should be balanced and widespread for the state’s upliftment.
Hon’ble MLA (Soreng-Chakung Constituency) Shri Aditya Golay expressed his immense pleasure in the inauguration of the new campus of Sikkim Professional University at Budang West Sikkim. He informed that it was a matter of great pride for the local people. In fact, it was a long pending demand of local people of Budang to transform the isolated campus for educational use, he informed. He offered his gratitude to all the staff of Sikkim Professional University for taking up a great initiative for establishing a University Campus at Budang West Sikkim to boost up the youths.
Lt.General (Dr) A.K Misra (Retd.)VC, Mangalyatan University, Jabalpur also congratulated on a new achievement. He articulated that the people of Sikkim are famous for their generosity and discipline and informed that he would be happy to help for the upliftment of Sikkim and its people.
Add. Chief Secretary, Education Department Shri G.P Upadhayay on his brief address shared that it was a historic moment for Sikkim with the establishment of a new campus at West District. He informed that new government new changes have definitely occurred specifically in the health and education sector. He further informed that West District always has been an aspirational hub.
Chairman, Sikkim Professional University Shri Hemant Kumar Goyal informed about various professional degrees that have been initiated for which the larger number of students shall be benefited. He also assured that employment will be given in maximum to the local people.
Later the program ended up with the Vote of thanks proposed by Shri K. Sathasivam, Registrar, Sikkim Professional University.
