The Hon’ble Chief Minister attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of Community Health Centre at West Sikkim

Gyalshing, 31st January (IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of Community Health Centre at Soreng, West Sikkim, today. The programme was organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
The event also had the special presence of Deputy Speaker (SLA), Shri Sangay Lepcha, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairmen, Political Secretary to HCM, Secretary to HCM, DC West, SP West, HODs, dignitaries from a different department, State Officers and the rural public of Soreng.
The Chief Minister was pleased to grace the said program as it was a historic event under Soreng-Chakung Constituency. In his speech, he shared his gratefulness to Shri P.K. Pradhan, land donor for the construction of CHC measuring land of seven acres at Soreng. He said that the newly constructed CHC will be known by Late Birkha Bahadur Pradhan Memorial Hospital. He mentioned that the State Government has prioritized the health and education sector as a long term development. He informed the gathering regarding the vaccination process and further stated that the process will be done in a phase-wise manner.
He highlighted the overall development of the health sector throughout the State. He assured to provide specialist doctors to all the district hospitals where all types of illness would be cared and treated within the state itself. He further assured to provide full infrastructure to Chakung Science College as the center of excellence. He also stressed a mega project for homestay which should be based on the tradition and culture of the State. He assured the gathering that government is always ready to lend all the possible support. Further, he highlighted that the State Government would soon construct Sikkim House in Maharashtra and added that the Sikkim Government has done all the documentation and formalities with Maharashtra Government.
The Chief Minister further stressed on tourism spot under Soreng-Chakung constituency and to pave the way he further stated that Rambam check post connecting Darjeeling (West Bengal) and Sikkim would be soon functional as Foreign Registration Office. He further mentioned that the government has acquired fifty quota seats for free MBBS course and thirty seats as a paid course. He further informed that yearly eighty Sikkimese students would be eligible to pursue MBBS within the State. He applauded Police Department for achieving Best Police Award in a small state. He also congratulated Pakyong Police Station where it ranked 7th out of ten by the Government of India. Speaking to the gathering, he said State Government has acquired land for NIT (National Institute of Technology) at Khamdong.
Hon’ble Minister for Healthcare and Family Welfare Department, Shri Mani Kumar Sharma was pleased and congratulated Mangarzong Association for witnessing such an event at Mangsari. He paid honor and respect to Sonam Tshering Tamang who received Gallantry Award recently. He also thanked the land donor of CHC Soreng. He highlighted the overall development of the State in the health sector. He also informed on the vaccination process and requested everyone to wait patiently for their turn.
Area MLA, Soreng-Chakhung Constituency, Shri Aditya Golay highly appreciated the donor who donated land for the construction of CHC Soreng. He urged every individual to be a responsible citizen of the government’s property. He further informed that development schemes are lined up in the coming days and requested the public to participate equally.
The event also drew light on the felicitation with the letter of appreciation to Shri P.K. Pradhan.
The technical report of “Development of Mangarzong” at Mangsari was presented by the Chief Engineer/Tourism and Civil Aviation Department and the report for Soreng CHC was presented by the Principal Secretary/Health Department respectively.
Earlier, the Hon’ble Chief Minister accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries attended the auspicious Bhumi Pujan ceremony of Mangarzong at Mangsari organized by the Civil and Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim.

Polio National Immunization launched in Namchi District Hospital

Simultaneously the Polio National Immunization Day was launched at health centres & ICDS centres across South District. A total of 9524 children aged between 0 to 5 years were successfully vaccinated today under South District.
Day two and three will see the household survey by the vaccinating team consisting of Health workers, ASHA & AWW to immunize any left out
beneficiaries.

National Inclusive Childrens Parliament

Namchi, 30th January: Swastika Manger, a 16 year old Bal panchayat president of Poklok Denchung GPU and a member of the South District Children’s Parliament has been elected as the Deputy Prime Minister of the National Inclusive Children’s Parliament. The two-day long election was concluded on 29th January with Swastika receiving second highest votes making her the Deputy PM. The oath taking ceremony will be held on 31st January. Swastika was nominated by the District Child Protection Unit, South district to represent the State for the 8 days long National Parliament held from 24th to 31st January. It is indeed a moment of pride for Sikkim to have a representative from Sikkim representing the children of the state at a National Forum.

District coordination meeting held at District Hospital Namchi

Namchi, 30th January: District coordination meeting held today at Conference hall, District Hospital Namchi under the chairmanship of Principal Director Health Services cum Mission Director (NHM) Dr Yamphel Bhutia.
He visited District Hospital Namchi accompanied by Dr Baroon Subba, Additional Director and Mrs Madhukala Mishra, State Quality Consultant. The meeting was attended by CMO(South)
Dr D.C.Sharma, DRCHO, DSO, DTO, DMS, doctors, nurses, paramedics and staff of District Hospital Namchi.
The primary agenda of the meeting was the discussion on the Performance Improvement Plan
(PIP) 2020-21, besides PIP other important issues, were discussed including repair and renovation of both OTs, strengthening of the dialysis unit at NDH, strengthening of ENT services with Cochlear implantation, operationalization of Ophthalmology OT, Renovation and shifting of SNCU, manpower strengthening to functionalize ICU, installation of inverters at OT, Dialysis unit, for uninterrupted power supply, renovation of the ward for post-operative patients.
It was also unanimously decided that work be completed on a priority basis. The meeting ended with a short note by PDHS-MD/NHM.

HCM inaugurates school building at Pema Rinzing Lama Senior Secondary School

Gyalshing, 29th January (IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) inaugurated the newly constructed school building at Pema Rinzing Lama Senior Secondary School at Yangsum, West Sikkim, today. The programme also had the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Speaker (SLA) Shri Sangay Lepcha, Minister for Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, Shri. Kunga Nima Lepcha, Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, AH&VS and IPR, Shri Lok Nath Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Power and Energy, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Hon’ble Minister for Roads and Bridges, Shri Samdup Lepcha, Advisor SBS Shri D.B Gurung, Hon’ble MLA Shri Aditya Golay, Advisors, Chairpersons, DC/West, SP/West, HOD’S from different departments, Senior Officers of the State administration and others.
Chief Minister in his address congratulated everyone present on the occasion. In terms of health facilities, he highlighted the latest improvement in terms of first Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory at STNM Hospital, Sochyagang which was established by the State Government while tests for the infectious disease was conducted free of cost. He informed that the newly inaugurated ICU Hospital has been converted into a hospital for treatment of Covid-19. In addition, the new STNM Hospital at Sochaygang has also been equipped with an Oncology Centre and an Oxygen Plant, he informed. Further, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also mentioned about two Neurosurgeons who have been appointed at the Hospital to provide the best of healthcare services. With these systems in place, the New STNM is fully well poised to benefit the people and provide state of the art healthcare facilities, he added. The Chief Minister also spoke about Dialysis Centres which are now fully functional at Gyalshing, Namchi and Gangtok. New ICUs are also operational at Gyalshing and Namchi Hospitals, he informed.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the State Government has made headway in ensuring comprehensive development in the education sector, some key initiatives have been undertaken which shall fast track the goal. Smart Android TVs have been provided to the students studying in classes VIII, IX, X and XI in the State Government run schools to access audio and video contents prepared by multiple sources including the Education Department. The State Government has also taken the decision to set up a “Centre of Excellence” at Chakung, West Sikkim which will be equipped with world-class facilities and shall have lectures from eminent and experienced faculty members. He also informed that major thrust has also been given to boost agriculture and dairy farming and to motivate the farmers in increasing production in these sectors. He also stated that price support to the marginal and small farmers who produce the following five crops namely, buckwheat, turmeric, orange, large cardamom and ginger has already been proposed by the State Government. Hon’ble Chief Minister also informed the benefits of new insurance policy for the Government employees of Sikkim.
The programme was also blessed by the Hon’ble Minister for Education Sri Kunga Nima Lepcha. While addressing the gathering, he thanked all the dignitaries, rural public, students for being present in this programme. He also expressed his best wishes to the students for the forthcoming examinations and encouraged the students to face every challenge of life without fear with a positive attitude. He also briefed about fast ongoing development work in the West District. Further he highlighted that soon the Government would construct rock climbing institutions at Legship football ground and urged the youth to take up all the benefits.
Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok Constituency, Shri Lok Nath Sharma in his address, recalled the contributions of Yangsum Senior Secondary School whereby the Hon’ble Chief Minister embarked his political journey for the welfare of Sikkim in the year 1994. He expressed gratitude before the Hon’ble Chief Minister for making the day historic for Gyalshing Bermiok constituency by inaugurating three notable infrastructures of SBS Legship Branch, New School Building of Yangsum Senior Secondary School and PR Lama Football Academy at Yangsum. He also urged people of the constituency to open saving account at SBS Legship Branch to be benefited with banking services.
He also drew light on the developmental works accomplished in his Constituency and pointed out up-gradation of Martam Senior Secondary School with science stream, Construction of Rangsang bridge Connecting Gyalshing & Bermiok as major developmental works. He also shared public aspirations to see the fulfilment of proposed demands earlier placed for the establishment of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services University. He also proposed demands for extension of Legship Kirateswar Mandir as a Pilgrimage destination and Adventure Sports of Mountaineering at the suitable geographical features at Legship Public Ground complex. He also highlighted various programmes initiated by the state government to uplift the people involved in agricultural and dairy
Earlier Chief Minister also inaugurated State Bank Of Sikkim at Legship and Pema Rinzing Lama football academy at Yangsum, West Sikkim and was informed that the Chief Minister provided financial assistance of Rupees Five Lakhs to run the newly inaugurated Yangsum Football Academy and extended the heartiest gratitude for the notable contributions.

District level Forum on Tuberculosis under NTEP

Namchi, 29th January: District level Forum on Tuberculosis under NTEP held today at DAC, Namchi under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Zilla Adhakshya Smt Tsering Dem Bhutia and DC (South) Shri. M Bharani Kumar. The forum was attended by CMO South, DTO, DRCHO, DSO, MOICs from all 7 blocks, Officials from Line Departments, District TB cell & IEC team.
District Tuberculosis Officer Dr Anju Rai oriented the forum members on the current status of TB cases in the South District and the strategies being adopted to control and prevent TB.

District Task Force Immunization meeting on National Immunization Day for Polio

Namchi, 29th Jan: District Task Force Immunization meeting on National Immunization Day for Polio was held today at the District Collectors Chamber in the presence of Hon’ble Zilla Adhakshya Smt Tsering Dem Bhutia, DC (South) Sri. M.Bharani Kumar, CMO (South)Dr. D.C. Sharma, DRCHO South, Officials from line departments & other health officials and staff from Namchi District Hospital.
Prior to the meeting, the first half saw orientation of Health workers, ASHAs and AWWs at Conference hall, NDH for successful implementation of the polio Immunization programme on Polio Sunday(31st JAN 2021)
For supervision and monitoring a District level monitoring team including District health officials, representatives from WHO & UNICEF, a Block level monitoring team and a District Control Room has been set up to handle any crisis during the vaccination programme.
