Gyalshing, 31st January (IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of Community Health Centre at Soreng, West Sikkim, today. The programme was organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim.
The event also had the special presence of Deputy Speaker (SLA), Shri Sangay Lepcha, Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chairmen, Political Secretary to HCM, Secretary to HCM, DC West, SP West, HODs, dignitaries from a different department, State Officers and the rural public of Soreng.
The Chief Minister was pleased to grace the said program as it was a historic event under Soreng-Chakung Constituency. In his speech, he shared his gratefulness to Shri P.K. Pradhan, land donor for the construction of CHC measuring land of seven acres at Soreng. He said that the newly constructed CHC will be known by Late Birkha Bahadur Pradhan Memorial Hospital. He mentioned that the State Government has prioritized the health and education sector as a long term development. He informed the gathering regarding the vaccination process and further stated that the process will be done in a phase-wise manner.
He highlighted the overall development of the health sector throughout the State. He assured to provide specialist doctors to all the district hospitals where all types of illness would be cared and treated within the state itself. He further assured to provide full infrastructure to Chakung Science College as the center of excellence. He also stressed a mega project for homestay which should be based on the tradition and culture of the State. He assured the gathering that government is always ready to lend all the possible support. Further, he highlighted that the State Government would soon construct Sikkim House in Maharashtra and added that the Sikkim Government has done all the documentation and formalities with Maharashtra Government.
The Chief Minister further stressed on tourism spot under Soreng-Chakung constituency and to pave the way he further stated that Rambam check post connecting Darjeeling (West Bengal) and Sikkim would be soon functional as Foreign Registration Office. He further mentioned that the government has acquired fifty quota seats for free MBBS course and thirty seats as a paid course. He further informed that yearly eighty Sikkimese students would be eligible to pursue MBBS within the State. He applauded Police Department for achieving Best Police Award in a small state. He also congratulated Pakyong Police Station where it ranked 7th out of ten by the Government of India. Speaking to the gathering, he said State Government has acquired land for NIT (National Institute of Technology) at Khamdong.
Hon’ble Minister for Healthcare and Family Welfare Department, Shri Mani Kumar Sharma was pleased and congratulated Mangarzong Association for witnessing such an event at Mangsari. He paid honor and respect to Sonam Tshering Tamang who received Gallantry Award recently. He also thanked the land donor of CHC Soreng. He highlighted the overall development of the State in the health sector. He also informed on the vaccination process and requested everyone to wait patiently for their turn.
Area MLA, Soreng-Chakhung Constituency, Shri Aditya Golay highly appreciated the donor who donated land for the construction of CHC Soreng. He urged every individual to be a responsible citizen of the government’s property. He further informed that development schemes are lined up in the coming days and requested the public to participate equally.
The event also drew light on the felicitation with the letter of appreciation to Shri P.K. Pradhan.
The technical report of “Development of Mangarzong” at Mangsari was presented by the Chief Engineer/Tourism and Civil Aviation Department and the report for Soreng CHC was presented by the Principal Secretary/Health Department respectively.
Earlier, the Hon’ble Chief Minister accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and dignitaries attended the auspicious Bhumi Pujan ceremony of Mangarzong at Mangsari organized by the Civil and Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim.
