Polling of three Urban Local Bodies in East District concludes

Gangtok, March 31(IPR): Polling of three Urban Local Bodies in East District, which commenced at 8 am in all the fifty-four Polling Stations, concluded in a smooth manner, today.
The first polling team to arrive in the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre, East after completion of polls was the team stationed at Power Secretariat Room No I Polling Station under Gangtok Municipal Corporation. After thoroughly checking the polled EVMs and polling materials, the same was handed over by the team to the concerned officials in presence of Election Observers, MRO East and other officials.
Likewise, the second polling team to report to the Conference Hall was the team stationed at Paljor Namgyal Girls Senior Secondary School Upper Building Room No I Polling Station under Gangtok Municipal Corporation. The team arrived at around 6:08 pm.
Similarly, the last team to arrive in the Conference Hall was the team stationed at Tadong Senior Secondary School Room No II Polling Station under GMC.
After receiving all polled Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and polling materials of all Polling Stations in East District for Municipal Elections 2021, the EVMs were stored in the Strong Room located at District Administrative Centre, East, today. The Strong Room was sealed under the supervision of MRO East Shri Ragul K. in presence of Election Observers, candidates and Election agents. The room is guarded by Sikkim Armed Police and is also under 24×7 CCTV surveillance. The sealing procedure was also video recorded. As a safety measures, the Fire tender has also been kept at DAC.
As per the report received from MRO, East, the total percentage of the vote cast for Municipal Elections 2021 of Gangtok Municipal Corporation for 15 wards was 62.61% comprising 63.92% male and 61.22% female voters.
Likewise, the total poll percentage of five wards under Singtam Nagar Panchayat was 71.11% comprising 72.99% male and 68.93% female voters.
The four wards of Rangpo Nagar Panchayat recorded the total vote percentage of 77.83%, out of which 77.97% were male and 77.67% female voters respectively.
Municipal Returning Officer East also informed that the EVMS will be taken out on 3rd April 2021(counting day) for counting of votes.

Namchi Municipal Council and Naya-Bazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat go to exercise their franchise

Namchi, 31st March (IPR): Voting for the two Urban Local Bodies started on a high note in various polling stations located in Namchi Municipal Council and Naya-Bazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat, today. In, NMC the total voter turnout was 70.87%. The female Voters were 68.35% and male voters were 73.39%. Similarly, for NJNP the total voter turnout was 75.58%. The female voters were 74.13% and male voters were 76.96%. The voting in all the wards commenced at 8 a.m. after Mock Poll and concluded at 5 p.m.
In, Namchi Municipal Council voting was conducted at 01 Gangyap Ward, 02 Dambudara Ward, 03 Upper Ghurpisey Ward and 05 Boomtar Ward. The highest number of voters was located at 02 Dambudara Ward and the lowest number of voters was located at 03 Upper Ghurpisey Ward. In, Naya-bazar Jorethang Nagar Panchayat voting was conducted at 02 Trikaleshwar Ward, 03 Daragaon Ward, 04 Majhigaon Ward and 05 Naya-bazar Ward. The highest number of voters was located at 04 Majhigaon Ward and the lowest number of voters was located at 02 Trikaleshwar Ward.
All the polling teams handed the Polled Electronic Voting Machines along with other polling materials to the concerned officials in the Control Room at District Administrative Centre, Namchi. The polls in Namchi and Naya-bazar Jorethang was held in an undisturbed and uninterrupted atmosphere with the Presiding and Polling Officers fulfilling their duties, efficiently. The Polled Electronic Voting Machines and Polling Materials were stored in the strong room which was sealed at 7.45 p.m. The counting of votes will be held on 3rd April 2021 at DAC, Namchi Conference Hall. The strong room shall be opened at 7:30 a.m. on the same day.

Voters under 06-Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat cast their votes for Municipal Election 2021

Gyalshing, March 31 (IPR): The maximum voters under 06-Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat cast their votes for Municipal Election 2021 at their respective polling booths, today.
The Election proceedings were commenced according to the guidelines of the State Election Commission with the Mock Poll started exactly at 7 am in all the polling booths and the actual poll started sharply at 8:00 am.
Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat consisting of five wards is contesting only for four wards as 01- Kyongsha ward was declared uncontested and the election process for the same remains abolished. Hence, the following are the name of the wards and their contesting candidates accordingly.

Following are the polling booths according to their respective wards and the total votes turnout percentage after closing the polls.
1. SPWD, AE Office, for 02-Byadong. Out of 276 voters, 211 voters exercised their voting rights. Male- 107, Female – 104. The total vote turnout percentage is 76% for the said ward.
2. Community Hall, Gyalshing Room No.l for 03-Naya Bazaar. Out of 526 voters, 381voters exercised their voting rights. Male -198, Female -183. The total vote turnout percentage is 72% for the said ward.
3. Community Hall, Gyalshing Room No. ll for 04-Central Gyalshing. Out of 835 voters, 566 voters exercised their voting rights. Male – 301, Female – 265. The total vote turnout percentage is 68% for the said ward.
4. Community Hall, Gyalshing Room No. lll for 05-New Gyalshing. Out of 512 voters, 398 voters exercised their voting rights. Male – 204, Female -194. The total vote turnout percentage is 78% for the said ward.
The overall voting percentage for Municipal Election 2021 pertaining to Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat is 72%.
Afterwards, the polled EVMs were sealed, signed in presence of Candidates/Election Agents and escorted to the strong room located at District Administrative Centre in the supervision of Sector Magistrate, Sector Officer and other authorized governmental officials along with the video and photo evidence taken by IPR Department. Before storing in the strong room all the sealed EVMs and polling materials were checked and received by the officials of Election Department, West in presence of MRO and ARO, West. Entry to the strong room is restricted and guarded by the police personnel 24×7.
The National Information Centre (NIC), Rabdentse provided technical support and an internet facility in the control room.
The Municipal Election 2021 proceedings pertaining to Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat was conducted in a free, fair and unbiased manner following the Covid-19 guidelines strictly.
According to the State Election Commission, the counting of votes will take place on 3rd April, 2021.
During the course of polling, Election Observer for (West), Municipal Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer paid their visit to all the polling booths to supervise the election process.

An average of 79.14% voter turnout was recorded for 7 Mangan Nagar Panchayat

Mangan, March 31 (IPR): An average of 79.14% voter turnout was recorded for 7 Mangan Nagar Panchayat for the Municipal Elections 2021 that took place at Mangan, today. The voting for the four wards began at 8:00 am at the four designated polling stations and concluded at 5:00 pm, informed the Municipal Returning Officer (North).
There are five wards under 7 Mangan Nagar Panchayat, out of which, Ward 2- Pentok- ST (W) was uncontested.
For Ward 1- Upper Mangan Bazar (ST), the total voter turn out was recorded at 82.17%.
For Ward 3- Power Colony (UR-W), the total voter turn out was recorded at 84.41%.
For Ward 4- Rinzing Namgyal Marg (ST), the total voter turn out was recorded at 77.11%
For Ward 5- Lower Mangan Bazar (UR-W), the total voter turn out was recorded at 76.77%.
After the closing of polls, all the four polling teams arrived at the Conference Hall of Zilla Bhawan, which is the Control Room for the Municipal Elections 2021, along with the EVMs and the polling materials, which were handed over to the officials in-charge, in the presence of the Municipal Returning Officer (North), Election Observer (North)
The EVMs were then moved to the strong room that is under CCTV surveillance and is guarded by Armed Police Personnel. The strong room was then sealed in the presence of the Municipal Returning Officer (North), Election Observer (North), all candidates and the election agents.

Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad cast his vote

Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad cast his vote at White Memorial Hall Polling Station for Tibet Road ward under Gangtok Municipal Corporation, a little while ago.
While speaking to the media after casting his vote, the Hon’ble Governor appealed to the voters to come forward and cast their valuable vote to the candidate of their choice for the development of their respective ward.
