Namchi, 20th December (IPR) : The Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture, Horticulture, AH&VS, IPR and Printing and Stationery Deptts. Shri Lok Nath Sharma attended a Semi Final Match of State Level Inter Churches Football Tournament, at Bhaichung Stadium, today
The semi final match was played between Youth Light Sikkim and Samaritan Work.
The First match was won by Youth light Sikkim and the second Match was won by E.P.C.S FC Sikkim .
The tournament was organised by All Sikkim Christian Organization and was kicked off on 10th December with the participation of various teams
Gyalshing, 20th Dec, 2021 (IPR): A co-ordination meeting on the upcoming ‘Colonel Classic’ National Bodybuilding Championship at Gyalshing was held at the Conference Hall of the District Administration Centre (DAC), Rabdentse West Sikkim.
The meeting was chaired by Shri. Agawane Rohan Ramesh, ADC West who during the meeting expressed his keen interest on the event organizer’s motive to motivate youngsters into positive bodybuilding and fitness programs. He also acknowledged their desire to highlight social causes like women empowerment, drugs abuse and use via the event. The ADC West urged all the Line departments to come forward and help the organisers to conduct such a huge event which is being prepared to be conducted on National Level. He also stated that all possible help would be catered to the organisers for the event.
As per the statement of the Organizing Committee the contest are divided into 3 major categories which are 1. Men’s Physique Open; 2. Mr. Geyzing Bodybuilding Championship and 3. Women’s Physique Open.
The Organizing Committee also mentioned that the contest has been organised to boost the morales of Bodybuilders in Sikkim. They also informed that the contest would be of national standards and hence are awaiting registrations from participants from different part of the country and neighboring countries as well.
The 1st co-ordination meeting also had the participation of West District Administration, Sports Department, Education Department, Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat, Information and Public Relations Department, FitPro Gym members and Taxi Drivers Association.
The Colonel Classic National Bodybuilding Championship is being organised by FitPro Gym in collaboration with Ex Servicemen Association of Sikkim (ESAS) and Sikkim State Bodybuilding Association (SSBA).
The event is scheduled to take place on the 12th and 13th of Feburary, 2022 at Community Hall, Gyalshing, West Sikkim.

1. Men’s Physique Open is 100000/-
2. Mr. Geyzing Bodybuilding Championship is 50000/-
3. Women’s Physique Open is 50000/-
Gangtok, December 20 (IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang laid the wreath and paid his tribute to the Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife and eleven other army personnel who died in the helicopter crash in Tamil Nadu recently, in a programme organised at MG Marg Gangtok today. The Chief Minister also lit the butter lamp and offered his prayers on behalf of the people of Sikkim.
The programme was organised by Rajya Sainik Board in coordination with the State Government to pay obeisance to the departed souls.
A Guard of Honour and Last Post was given on the occasion by the jawans of the Armed Force 17 Mountain Division.
The Chief Minister was joined on the solemn occasion by Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, MP Lok Sabha, Chief Secretary, DGP, Heads of Departments, Secretary Rajya Sainik Board, and other dignitaries.
Likewise, the programme had the presence and participation of Army officials, Ex-Servicemen who fought the Indo Pakistan War of 1971 under 5-11 Gorkha Rifles, and members of the public.
India’s first CDS General Bipin Rawat was known for his impeccable leadership. He held a special place for Sikkim and its people as it was under his direction and signature that the Sikkim Scouts was raised. It was under his guidance that the first 968 cadets under Sikkim Scouts were recruited, which led to creation of employment opportunities for 2500 more cadets. The General always used to wear the “Sikkim Scouts” tab which is affiliated with the 11th Gorkha Rifles and used its insignia and flag along with the words Sikkim Scouts.
Along with General Rawat, it is also a matter of pride and honour that Lt Col Harjinder Singh and Havaldar Satpal Rai who died during the crash had served in the Sikkim Scouts.

The Annual General Body meeting of the Indian Olympic Association was held at Olympic Bhawan, New Delhi under the presidentship of Dr Narendra Dhruv Batra on 19th December. The meeting was conducted by Mr Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw who was appointed as Administrator and assisted by Mr Injeti Srinivas, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India as per the direction of Hon’ble High Court, New Delhi.
The meeting unanimously decided to form a six-member Committee to finalise such amendments to the Constitution/Articles of Association of the IOA in terms of the National Sports Code, the International Olympic Committee Charter and orders of the Hon’ble High Court and Supreme Court.
Mr Kuber Bhandari, President and Mr Jas Lal Pradhan, General Secretary of Sikkim Olympic Association attended the meeting.

Namchi,19th December (IPR) : Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang and his Spouse Smt Krishna Rai graced the Pughal Parim celebrations organised by Akhil Sikkim Bhujel Sangha (ASBS) at the playground of Namphing Government Sec. School, today.

The Chief Minister extended his warm greetings to the Bhujel community on this special occasion. He stated that Sikkim is not only blessed with natural beauty but also with people belonging to different cultures and traditions and it is home to several festivals, each carrying its own significance. He suggested that community festivals should also be celebrated at home so that the coming generations can learn about the traditions of their respective community. He further stated that Bhujel community is a community having their own language and as such they should come together and preserve their language and literature. He reflected that since Bhujel language is taught till class II ,it should also be implemented in higher classes in every schools of Sikkim as many other languages are taught.
Speaking during the program Minister B.S. Panth congratulated all the Bhujel Community and highlighted about various developmental projects.
The program also witnessed traditional dances, poem recitation and felicitation to Dr. Bala Ram Pandey and Dr. Samar Sinha, Assistant Professor (Sikkim University) for their contribution towards conserving Bhujel Language.
Felicitation and Memento was also presented to the Chief Minister for his immense love and support towards the Bhujel Community from Akhil Sikkim Bhujel Sanga
One day orientation cum training programme for student volunteers under Mahila Shakti Kendra.
On 18th Dec. 2021, The District Level Center for Women, Mahila Shakti Kendra, west sikkim organised a “One day orientation cum training programme for student volunteers under Mahila Shakti Kendra” Of govt. Of India, at the conference hall of BAC in Dentam, west sikkim.
The programme was formally innaugorated by the Vice Principal of Government Vocational College, Dentam Dr. Pinkila Bhutia, in presence of Dean Dr. Dichen Doma Sherpa.
She appealed to the students to volunteer themselves for community service at village level and to help the needy rural women at their need of the hour.
The objective of the one day orientation cum training programme for student volunteers under mahila shakti kendra was to explain their roles and responsibilities during their community service and to make every student volunteer an ‘agent of change’. Important topics like domestic violence, sexual harassment, gender equality, were discussed along with the various women and girl centric schemes available in the state.
Altogether 75 student volunteers were trained by the women welfare officer, DLCW(MSK), West sikkim Mrs. Maneka Chettri.
The student volunteers expressed their satisfaction after the training and said “The training not only created self awareness and self satisfaction but also made us aware of their basic rights and duties”.

The 317th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Tyongsi Sirijunga was celebrated with great honour and passion at the Tyongsi Sirijunga Mangheem premises, Martam, West Sikkim, today.
The Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency Shri Lok Nath Sharma graced the occasion as the chief guest in special presence of Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Shri Indra Hang Subba, Advisor Education Deptt. Shri M. P. Phurumboo, Advisor IPR Deptt. Shri Birendra Tamling, Chairman SABCO Shri J. B. Limboo, President Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat Shri Devendra Sharma, Panchayats, BDO Hee Martam BAC Pratibha Tamang and others.
Shri Sharma, in his address, encouraged gathering to imbibe wisdom and teachings of Tyongsi Sirijunga in practice to pay him true tribute and honour. He also highlighted future scope of introducing Mahatma Tyongsi Sirijunga globally, with the construction of sanctioned National Highway through various GPUs of Gyalshing Bermiok Constituency. He also underlined upcoming developmental projects of Tourism at Legship, establishment of Sherpa Bhawan, additional school buildings, auditorium in various schools, Kaanstaar Developmental project and many others in near future.
He emphasized on the vision of the ruling government for social, cultural, religious, literary and economic development of all communities, equally, under the leadership of the Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang.
Further, he also informed that the construction work pertaining to extension and beatification of project at Chayataal in phase II has been commenced at an sanctioned cost of Rupees eighteen crore and added that the extended project reflects strong political will and warm gesture of the state government to develop, preserve and protect culture and legacy of Limboo community. Shri Sharma appealed people of the constituency to be more progressive and hardworking to take benefits of availed schemes and programmes initiated by the government.
Addressing the gathering, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Shri Indra Hang Subba, articulated on historical significance of the day and said that the Mangheem premises is the first place in the state wherein the Limboo language was taught and created awareness on literary counciousness.
He also encouraged scholars and the students to conduct research work for knowledge and strengthening communal harmony. He also recalled commendable role accomplished by various literary personalities for the development of Limboo language. He informed that the students of higher education can undergo PhD course in Limboo along with Bhutia and Lepcha language.
Further, he elucidated cause of delay in previous regime in fulfilling long pending demand of Limboo Tamang community in the state and reassured to provide justice to the community under the leadership of the Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang.
The Keynote speaker Shri S. P. Mangyung highlighted lifelong contributions and sacrifices of Tyongsi Sirijunga for the society.
