Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang along with RDD and Ecclesiastical Minister Shri Sonam Lama visited Phuntshog Ngayap Palri Meditation Retreat Centre at Luksyama

Gangtok, Jan 31 (IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang along with RDD and Ecclesiastical Minister Shri Sonam Lama visited Phuntshog Ngayap Palri Meditation Retreat Centre at Luksyama (Hanuman Tok) today and received the Darshan of Kudung of His Holiness Kyabje Dodrupchen Rinpoche who had attained Mahaparinirvana on 25th January 2022.
“H.H. the Rinpoche was a gem of our state and the Buddhist spiritual world, who had contributed a lot towards the proliferation of spiritual education to thousands of devotees.” stated the Chief Minister.
The Government has arranged Darshan of Kudung for all devotees which will open from tomorrow the 1st February, 2022. Prayers are offered from everywhere for the reincarnation of H.H. the 4th Dodrupchen Kyabje Rinpoche.
The Chief Minister also took stock of the arrangements made towards the Darshan of Kudung of HH the Rinpoche and suggested ensuring the most welcoming atmosphere for all the visitors coming to have the Darshan.
Discussions were also made for the arrangement of the post-Kudung programme.

Sikkim Child Parliamentarians become Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in National Inclusive Children’s Parliament

Mangan, Jan 31 (IPR): The National Inclusive Children’s Parliament was held from 23rd to 30th January, 2022, with virtual participation from Child Parliamentarians across India. With the presence of Member of Parliaments, Shri Gaurav Gogoi and Shri Hasnain Masoodi, the week-long program culminated on 30th January 2022 promoting Gandhi Ji’s Antodaya.
Ms. Lavomit Lepcha, Prime Minister of Village Level Children’s Parliament, Ringhim Nampatam GPU , student of North Sikkim Academy, Mangan has been elected as the Deputy Prime Minister of National Inclusive Children’s Parliament, 2022. Also, Ms. Bhumika Chettri, Minister of Quality Education of District Level Children’s Parliament, North District, student of Mangan Sr.Sec.School was elected as the Deputy Minister of Sustainable cities and communities.
The District Child Protection Unit, North under Child Protection Scheme, Women and Child Development Department, has been forming Village Level Children’s Parliament in all the GPUs of the District to empower children in the most rural areas by giving them this platform to raise their voices. These Child Parliamentarians have been attending Gram Sabhas and getting involved in the village administration with active support from the Panchayat Presidents who are also the Chairpersons of Village Level Child Protection Committees.
The first Prime Minister from Sikkim to be elected in the National Inclusive Children’s Parliament 2020 was from Hee Gyathang, North Sikkim and every year these Village Level Child Parliamentarians have been participating in the National level Children’s Parliament with the guidance of the DCPO,North, Ms. Wendy Lepcha, who has been coordinating with the convening organization Pratyek, which is a Child Rights Organization working towards meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Education Department Issues Nomination Letters to Students Selected for MBBS at SMIMS Under State Quota

Gangtok, January 31 (IPR): The Directorate of Technical Education, Department of Education, Government of Sikkim, has issued nomination letters for MBBS State quota seats of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS), Tadong. The Department handed over the nomination letters to the students who have been selected against the 50 free MBBS State quota seats under the sponsorship of the State Government at the conference hall of the Education Department, today.
In his brief address, Special Secretary, Education Department, Shri Bhim Thatal expressed gratitude to the State government for arranging 50 fully free MBBS seats thus taking the total number of reserved seats under the state quota to 80 with the previously allotted 30 full payment MBBS seats for Sikkimese students.
These additional 50 seats will be free of cost for students from Sikkim who qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the State Government will pay all expenses of the course, excluding the accommodation expenditure, he added.
Terming the event as a huge achievement for Sikkim, Shri Thatal said that this development under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang will benefit students from financially weaker background and open opportunities for them to pursue a career in the medical field while also preventing drop-outs due to financial constraints.
He extended best wishes to the 50 selected students for their future endeavours and urged them to make the most of the opportunity being provided by the State Government

Gangtok, Jan 30 (IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang has offered his homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi on Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day, today. On this day the nation remembers and honours the sacrifices of freedom fighters, soldiers, and patriots who laid down their lives to secure freedom for India from the British Rule.
A two-minute silence is observed across the country in memory of the Indian martyrs.
Shaheed Diwas or Martyrs’ Day is observed across the nation on seven different days. These are 30th January, 23rd March, 19th May, 21st October, 17th November, 19th November, and 24th November, in honour of sacrifices made by various patriots.
30th January is celebrated as Martyrs’ Day or Shaheed Diwas at the National level. The country holds religious prayers and sings tributes to martyrs on this day
