A review meeting of the District NCORD Committee for Gyalshing District
Gyalshing, 31st August (IPR): A review meeting of the District Narco Coordination (NCORD) Committee for Gyalshing District was held at the Conference Hall of DAC, Rabdentse. District Collector Gyalshing Smt Yishey D. Yongda chaired as District Level Head of the NCORD Committee.
The meeting also had the presence and participation of ADC Gyalshing, ASP Gyalshing, SDM Gyalshing, Dy. CO
36th Battalion SSB Seema Bal, SDM Yuksam, SDM Dentam Shri N.K. Karki, Dy. Director Education, Senior Welfare Officer, ADO Horticulture, Consultant (ENT), District Hospital Gyalshing.
DC Gyalshing expressed deep concern over the illicit activities being intercepted in recent times and commended Gyalshing Police Department for their crucially active role in tackling and containing the menace of narcotics in the district. In order to prevent the rampant growth of marijuana in the places of concern, she advised for timely raids by all the stakeholders in close coordination in places where the tendency of recurring instances of the breach in relevant law is witnessed. She even informed the House about the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court for setting up a dedicated room in DAC premises wherein seized exhibits are to be stored under safe custody inside a vault. In this regard, an appropriate space has already been identified.
ADC Gyalshing enquired about redressal activities carried out by the concerned departmental personnel and representatives from 36 BN SSB Yangtey in the district and suggested the line department officials coordinate with police personnel in various operations and stressed the importance of awareness and sensitization to the public. He also encouraged Education Dept to activate the anti-drugs clubs in every school and conduct monthly sensitization programs in all schools regularly.
ASP Gyalshing informed on the recently cracked SADA case in the district and it’s present status. He further informed that after Interception a case under the relevant clause of SADA was registered and for further investigation through expert consultation the seized exhibits were sent to the Regional Forensic Lab Ranipool.
The main motive of the constituted regulatory committees’ is to assess a comprehensive combating strategy to tackle and establish stringent provisions for control, regulation, and supervision of the illegal possession, sale, transit, and consumption of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances through applied legal parameters under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance, NDPS Act 1985.

The first preparatory meeting of SDMs, BDOs & Officers of the Election Department
Gyalshing, 31st August (IPR): The first preparatory meeting of SDMs, BDOs and Officers of the Election Department pertaining to the Panchayat Election was held at the Conference Hall of DAC, Rabdentse. District Collector Gyalshing Smt Yishey D.Yongda chaired the meeting.
In her opening remarks, the DC reminded all present about the slow progress under the summary revision, in terms of Aadhar to Voter card seeding and called for serious effort from everyone for expediting the same. She asked the SDMs and BDOs to keep in constant touch with their respective BLOs for accelerating the pace of online updation as to move forward from the present undesirable position.
She further instructed that manpower details required for conducting Panchayat elections be submitted in the required format by 08/09/12 by all BDOs so that the first round of training of the polling personnel of the 194 Polling Stations could be held well within the stipulated time.
She further advised all BDOs to personally visit all the polling stations to ensure all have the basic requisite facilities. All the BDOs were instructed on the precautions that need to be taken for disposing of claims and objections.

The five-day-long 1st North East NSS Festival 2022 concludes
Gangtok, August 31 (IPR): The five-day-long 1st North East NSS Festival 2022 was organised by the State National Service Scheme (NSS Cell) of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India concluded today at Manan Kendra.
The valedictory ceremony had the presence of MLA, Martam Rumtek Constituency cum Chairman, Denzong Agricultural Cooperative Society Ltd., Shri Sonam T. Venchungpa, as chief guest along with Advisor, Sports & Youth Affairs, Shri M.N. Subba, as the guest of honour.
The programme was also attended by Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs, Shri Karma R. Bonpo, Director, Sports & Youth Affairs, Smt. Doma Tshering Bhutia, and Director, of Health, Dr. Pema Lepcha, along with representatives of Rotary Club, Sikkim and Mayalmu Sangh, and NSS volunteers and Programme Officers from all NE States.
Chief guest Shri Sonam T. Venchungpa, while sharing his valuable college experiences, shared the importance of multiculturalism in encouraging dialogue between radically different cultures that have different perspectives. The nation’s true power lies in the hands of its youth and events such as the NE NSS Festival will further help empower the youth to chart a better future towards success and prosperity, he added.
He extended gratitude to all the participants and resource persons, Shri Diwakar Basnet and Shri Anjan Chowdhury, for their involvement in the festival and expressed hopes that the participants would share their experiences and knowledge gained with their counterparts in their respective States. He stated that this festival is a huge platform for all to trigger motivation a4d experience in life and encouraged the youth to be assertive and resist getting involved in negative influence.
Shri Venchungpa declared the closing of the 1st North East NSS Festival 2022.
Secretary, Shri Karma R. Bonpo, also addressed the programme wherein he highlighted the key role of NSS in the development of the country while adding that the core foundation of NSS is community service. He thanked all the Programme Officers from the NE region and the NSS volunteers for their active participation and cooperation in the successful proceedings of the festival.
He further encouraged the youth to spread the message and awareness on achieving a drug-free society and State as a whole. He highly appreciated the efforts of the NSS cell of Sikkim in guiding and constantly encouraging the participants throughout the events inclusive of the NE NSS Festival.
State Nodal Officer, Smt. Lalita Chettri, in her welcome speech, gave a brief report of the NSS activities undertaken during the five-day-long festival.
The Best Performing NSS Unit of Sikkim was bagged by Kabi Kalzang Gyatso Senior Secondary School from Mangan district, Kewzing SSS from Namchi district, Gyalshing Girls SSS from Gyalshing district, Pachey SSS from Pakyong district, K.B. Limboo SSS from Soreng district and Modern SSS from Gangtok district. Certificates and mementoes were handed over to the winners.
Certificates and mementoes were also handed over to Programme Officers and Liaison Officers from Sikkim and the other NE States.
The NSS Cell, Sikkim also presented a token of appreciation to Director, Sports & Youth Affairs, Smt. Doma Tshering Bhutia, who is also the former Nodal Officer of NSS Unit, Sikkim, for her support in the successful and smooth completion of the festival.
On the occasion, NSS volunteers from the eight NE States shared their festival experiences and the knowledge gained throughout the event.
The programme also featured a cultural extravaganza presented by the NE contingents and a skit played by POs.
Earlier, a session on life skill training was conducted by Shri Diwakar Basnet of 24-Hours Inspired, Sikkim.

SASY orientation program organized at Soreng
Soreng, August 31(IPR): The Department of Women and Child Development organized an orientation program for District Officials/ Field Functionaries on Sikkim Aama Sashaktikaran Yojana Scheme (SASY) at the Soreng DAC Conference Hall, today.
The programme was chaired by the DC(Soreng), Shri Bhim Thatal also had the presence and the participation of ADC(Soreng), Shri Dhiraj Subedi, ADC/ Dev, Shri Gaayas Pega, SDM (HQ), Shri D.R Bista, SDM, Shri Ranjan Rai, BDOs, Panchayat members along with Welfare Officers, Social Welfare Inspectors, Welfare Inspectors and concerned Officials.
The DC, Shri Thatal in his brief address congratulated and applauded the Government and the Department for successfully launching the scheme and proactively implementing the scheme for the beneficiaries. He urged the officials to responsibly identify the genuine beneficiaries and work in tandem with all the grass root level staff for a rightful implementation of the scheme. Further, he assured that all the required support and cooperation will be provided by the district administration when needed.
The program included an extensive power point presentation made by Shri Khemraj Bhattarai, Joint Secretary (WCDD) cum Program Officer, (SASY). He informed that the as per the guideline, the stipulated amount of Rupees Twenty thousand will be deposited in two phases through the State Bank of Sikkim. He urged the stakeholders to properly disseminate the information especially, with regard to eligibility criteria and proper submission of the required documents.
The program also included an interactive session with the participants and the organizers.
It may be mentioned here that the SASY is a State Initiative Welfare Scheme launched by the State Government to empower and provide financial assistance to mothers who are either widows, divorced, separated or have legal adoption and who are non-working or do not have any lucrative source of income.

The 27th AGM of the Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd
Jorethang: The 27th AGM of the Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd was held on 31 Aug 2022 at the State Institute of Capacity Building Conference Hall at Jorethang. The AGM was attended by the Vice Chairman, Sikkim Co-operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd Shr. MJ Rai, Secretary Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Dr. P. Senthil Kumar, Principal Director Dr. BM Chettri, Addl Registrar, Joint Registrar-cum-Returning Officer, all board members, officers and staff of Sikkim Co-operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd and AHVS Dept. The Addl General Manager of Sikkim Milk Union Ms. Kesang welcomed the gathering and dignitaries.
The Secretary-cum-Managing Director made agenda wise presentation including confirmation of the minutes of the 26th AGM and he informed that this year 2 AGMs were conducted and also highlighted the progress achieved by the union. The election proceedings were then taken up by the returning officer-cum-Joint Registrar Ms. Sarda Roka and her team. She briefed the AGM about the election numbers and the process followed and declared that out of 17 Board of Directors, 10 BoDs were elected unopposed. The remaining 7 seats went for election. After the smooth conduct of an election, the following 17 candidates were declared elected to the board of directors of Sikkim Co-operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd.

Larter in the program, all the outgoing Board of Directors was provided with a memento and citation in recognition of their contribution. The out-going board members unanimously thanked the dairy farmers of Sikkim, Village Milk Producer’s Co-operative Societies of the Sikkim Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd, the management of The Sikkim Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd and the Government of Sikkim for providing all support and cooperation during their entire tenure as the board of directors. All the board members committed that they will extend all support and cooperation for the growth and progress of the Sikkim Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd. Board also unanimously extended their
congratulations and best wishes to the newly elected/selected board of Directors of The Sikkim Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd and assured them all support and cooperation for all their efforts in sustaining the performance of the Sikkim Co-Operative Milk Producer’s Union Ltd. Similarly all newly elected Board were welcomed with the offering of khadas.
MD thanked the Registrar, Co-operation, and Returning Officer Ms. Sarda Roka for smoothly conducting the elections. The MD in his address stated that the farmers should use the opportunity made available by the Government and Sikkim milk Union for furthering the growth in the Dairy Sector. He also stressed that the farmers have to be proactive in improving their milk production in both quality and quantity.
In his address Vice chairman of Sikkim Milk Union Shri MJ Rai thanked the dairy farmers of Sikkim, Village Milk Producer’s Co-operative Societies of Sikkim Milk, the management of Sikkim Milk Union and the Government of Sikkim for providing all support and cooperation for the progress and performance of the Union.
