House upgradation of 314 beneficiaries in the Rhenock constituency

Pakyong, September 30 (IPR): Hon’ble Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang’s scheme to cater to the needs of non-privileged citizens of the State takes fruition through the plan of house upgradation of 314 beneficiaries in the Rhenock constituency who were granted a cash incentive of Rs. 20,000 each at RURBAN complex today.
The incentives were distributed through the hands of MLA Shri Bishnu Psd Khatiwara.
Shri Khatiwara congratulated the beneficiaries and wished everyone to utilise the received amount properly so that it could benefit the family.
The idea of distributing House upgradation grants distribution every year by the Hon’ble Chief Minister is innovative and great support for the rural public.
It is a great opportunity for people to repair their houses and get the facelifting works done which will help them to maintain their social status.
As per the words of HCM, the distribution of GCI sheets is not only to repair their respective house roofs but they can also explore new livelihood earnings for themselves with it, like the roofing of sheds for cattle, poultry, composting etc.

Gyalshing, 30th September: The closing ceremony of the District Level month-long 5th Rashtriya POSHAN MAAH 2022 was held at the Conference Hall of District Zilla Panchayat Bhawan, Kyongsha today.
The programme had the presence of Mrs Sharmila Tiwari, a Member of Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat,
Mr Bijoy Prasad Subba, BDO Gyalshing, Mr Ganga Prasad Sharma, DPO WDZP, Mr Yogesh Sharma, Deputy Director, Mr N.B. Mishra, AO, Dr Leezum F. Lepcha, DSO District Hospital Gyalshing, Mr H.B. Sangkher, CDPO Gyalshing, Mr Sangay Tamang, District Coordinator, Mrs Malati Subba and Lhamit Lepcha, Supervisors, and Anganwadi Workers of the district.
The main discussion made at the programme was the activities carried out throughout the month and in consideration of that Gyalshing district was awarded the best performing district in the State.
Likewise, Anganwadi Workers observed awareness of exclusive breastfeeding, anaemia, malnutrition, the importance of hygiene and the availability of local food during the entire month.

MLA Shri Em Prasad Sharma, flagged off (Bhumi pooja) the Construction of the Bridge connecting NH10 (32no) to Priklakha

Pakyong, September 30 (IPR): Hon’ble Area MLA Namcheybong, Shri Em Prasad Sharma, flagged off (Bhumi pooja) the Construction of the Bridge connecting NH10 (32no) to Priklakha.
The project amounted to Rupees 13,91,52258/-cr.
The public of Priklakha, Basilakha and the surrounding areas in their gratitude thanked MLA for full filling the long pending demand for bridge construction.
Shri Sharma also gave clear instructions to the department and contractor that work should be done in the favour of the public and finished within nine months of the initiation.

The first meeting of the District Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee

Namchi, 30th September(IPR): The first meeting of the District Panchayat Performance Assessment Committee (DPPAC) was held at District Administrative Centre, today. D.C. (Namchi) cum Chairperson Mr M. Bharani Kumar chaired the meeting which was attended by DPO (Zilla) Ms Karzang D. Lassopa and other line officials.
Addressing, the meeting DC cum Chairperson Mr M. Bharani spoke about the importance of this meeting and about the National Panchayat Awards. He informed the members of the committee to work in coordination for this award and ensure that maximum participation is sought from Gram Panchayat while filing the online nominations.
The meeting deliberated on the district level orientation for all functionaries of Namchi district will be conducted at SIRD&PR on 12th October. The technical session for all the Panchayat Development Assistants of the respective Gram Panchayat Units will be held on the 21st of October.
Panchayat Coordinator cum Technical Official through a power point presentation highlighted the guidelines of the National Panchayat Awards ceremony which has been recommended by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. He also stated the roles and responsibilities of the District Level Committee entrusted by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in the recommendation of nominations for the National Panchayat Awards.

Closing Ceremony of 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022

Gangtok, 30th September 2022(IPR): Closing Ceremony of 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 was held at Denzong Regency, Zero Point, Gangtok.
Shri Sanjit Kharel, Minister of Women & Child Development Department, graced the event as the chief guest. Also present were Shri Nell Bahadur Chettri, Mayor, GMC, Smt Tshering Palden, Deputy Mayor, GMC, Shri Samsher Rai, Adakshya, EDZP, Shri Tshewang Gyachho, Secretary Social Welfare Department, Smt Ganga D. Pradhan, IAS, Secretary, Women & Child Development Department, officials and staff of Women & Child Development Department.
Shri Sanjit Kharel, Minister of Women and Child Development Department, expressed his gratitude for being part of the event. He said it is indeed a matter of great pride to see that all the objectives related to Poshan Maah have been achieved with the help of local bodies. He stated that the major scoop is to develop practices that nurture health, fitness, and immunity to diseases and end the menace of malnutrition in the State.
Further, he said that the one-month-long programme strived to reduce the level of stunting, under-nutrition, low birth weight in children, and anaemia in adolescent girls, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children in the State. He added that Jan Andolan and community mobilisation are essential components for the effective implementation of Poshan Abhiyan.
Lastly, he lauded the contributions of all the various stakeholders, which ensured the participation of public representatives of local government, public departments from States, and various social organizations.
Smt Ganga D. Pradhan, IAS, Secretary, Women & Child Development Department, welcomed all the dignitaries and invitees to the programme. She said that the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 began on 1st September 2022 at State, District, Blocks, and sector levels. She said this month-long campaign has been very successful with numerous activities across the State. She also informed that POSHAN Maah 2022 focussed on four Key themes, mainly Mahila and Swasthya, Bacha and Shiksha – Poshan Bhi Padhai bhi, Gender Sensitive Water Conservation Management and Traditional Foods for Women and Children in Tribal Areas. She stated that the theme is related to the present-day situation, with the department and its allies focused on taking the entire activities with public participation, which has led to a substantial societal impact. This activity should further be a continuous dynamic process, she added. She applauded ICDS, AWWs, and AWH workers for their immense contributions to making this Poshan Maah a grand success.
She congratulated all the winners of the Poshan Maah activities and urged all the members to continue their pursuit, identify the malnourished children and integrate them into the mainstream.
Smt Yamini Pradhan, SNO/ Poshan Abhiyan WCDD, presented the activities of Poshan Maah 2022 in a PowerPoint presentation where she highlighted the various actions that were taken during this one-month-long Pashan Maah.
A short visual report of the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 was presented by the team of the Women & Child Development Department.
Awards were distributed to the teams according to different initiatives undertaken-
CONVERGENT INITIATIVES:
a. TEAM NAMCHI conducted many activities in convergence with CCI/ RDD/Namchi Municipal corporation. Assistant Director Nutrition, along with Inspectors, who also participated in the programme. District Child Protection Unit Namchi also participated in the programme.
b.TEAM SORENG also conducted many activities in convergence with the Education department, DD, and Health.
INNOVATIVE INITIATIVES;
a. TEAM CHUNGTHANG conducted various innovative activities during the month-long programme. The activities included the preparation of indigenous toys, local folk songs, and songs on the fight against malnutrition.
b. TEAM JORETHANG conducted Poshan panchayat in Turuk Ramabong GPU in coordination with panchayats, Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi helpers.
Similarly, Team Gyalshing (DC/PA) and team Singtam(DC/PA) were awarded first and second positions for taking up the maximum number of Poshan Maah activities.
These are the activities carried out during POSHAN Maah-5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 was inaugurated on 1st September 2022 at the State, District, Block, and Sector level throughout the State.
Poshan Pledge was administered, and signature campaigns were organised at State, District Headquarters, Sub Division level, schools, Colleges, CIs, and AWCs all over the State.
POSHAN Mela, Radio Talk, and Rallies were organised in all the Districts and Subdivision levels. Poshan Panchayats were conducted at the block level in convergence with the Rural Development Department.
Many indigenous toy-making activities and workshops were carried out in convergence with the Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts at the District for AWWs and SHGs.
Various awareness programmes on nutrition and health were organised in convergence with CCIs and Education Department.
Traditional food recipes for women and children were prepared and demonstrated at all levels. All activities were uploaded to the Jan Andolan Dashboard [www.poshanabhiyaan.pov].

Namchi, 30th September (IPR): A thanksgiving program was organised by Namchi Zilla Panchayat Members at the conference hall of Namchi Zilla Bhawan, today. Present during the occasion were Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms Tshering Dem Bhutia, Upadhakshya (Namchi) Mr Bhim Lakhey, DC (Namchi) Mr M. Bharani Kumar, DPO (Zilla) Ms Karzang D. Lassopa, Namchi Zilla Adhyaksha members and officials of the department.
At the onset of the programme, a driver’s waiting room was inaugurated by the Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms Tshering Dem Bhutia. This waiting room has been constructed this year itself, from the funds of Namchi Zilla Panchayat. The total cost of this room is Rs. 2.50 Lakhs and is equipped with a washroom and other sitting arrangements. This room has been constructed as a facility so that the drivers can have a separate room wherein they can conduct their official activities seamlessly.
Addressing, the gathering Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms Tshering Dem Bhutia extended her heartfelt gratitude to the officials, staff and other Panchayats for their combined efforts in smooth functioning. She informed me about the various works that the Namchi Zilla Panchayat has undertaken in its comprehensive plan. She, updated that they had received award money totalling Rs. Fifty Thousand which was used to build an Annex Guest house at Zilla office vicinity and other infrastructures. The Zilla Panchayats also have distributed equipment and other amenities worth Rs. Three Lakh during the pandemic of COVID-19 to Namchi District Hospital. In, revenue generation they have rented an organic stall, and an ATM Machine outlet at the Zilla Bhawan premises, the proceeds from these channels will aid in the funds of Namchi Zilla Panchayat, she added. The Zilla Panchayat has also enhanced the growth levels in most government educational institutions they have provided proper water connection, distribution of amenities and other services. The Zilla Adhakshya also informed that the panchayats have diligently worked to improve the overall status of human development in a time-bound manner.
Speaking, during the Program Upadhakshya (Namchi) Mr Bhim Lakhey highlighted the roles and functions that the panchayats. He also spoke at large about the pertinent task that the panchayats did during the pandemic of COVID-19 in helping the people. In this regard, he added that a holistic framework was adopted by the Zilla Panchayat functionaries.
DC (Namchi) Mr M. Bharani Kumar in his speech spoke in brief about his experiences working with the Zilla Panchayats of the district. He spoke about the important responsibilities that the Zilla Adhakshya and other Panchayats have to bear to uplift the lives of the public at large. He underlined how Panchayati Raj has developed in our country and urged the Panchayats to focus on building Community Assets such as Primary Health, Primary Education so that the public and society can be assisted.
During the course of the programme D.C. (Namchi) Mr M. Bharani Kumar and other Officials, Staff and Safai Karmachari were felicitated. A total number of 58 officials were given the certificate in order to acknowledge their immense contribution to the smooth functioning and management of the Zilla panchayat in the district.
Representatives from the All Sikkim Drivers Association felicitated Zilla Adhakshya (Namchi) Ms Tshering Dem Bhutia for building a waiting shed for drivers of the department.
Zilla Panchayat Members Mr K. N. Pradhan, Mr Gokul Rai and Mr Rabindra Rai briefed about the aim of the programme and presented their valuable suggestions and shared their gratefulness towards the Namchi Zilla office.

The first round of training for Presiding and Polling Officers I for BAC Gyalshing

Gyalshing, 30th September (IPR):
The first round of training for Presiding and Polling Officers I for BAC Gyalshing appointed for the forthcoming Panchayat Elections 2022 was held at the Community Center, Gyalshing today.
Ms K.S.C. Tongden, Superintendent Engineer Power, Dentam initiated the training programme with her welcome address.
The training session was moderated by Mr Sontosh Kumar Allay/SDM Gyalshing and Mr T. Panjo Sherpa/Joint Director, Education Department, BAC Dentam. A total of 94 Presiding and Polling Officers attended the training.
At the outset, a handbook for Presiding Officers for Panchayat Elections was produced for the trainees to make it comprehensible with the law and procedure and the relevant instructions and directions of the Commission.
The first phase of the training was imparted by Mr Allay, in his session he informed the trainees that the three-day long training was to be done in three batches. He then discussed in detail the roles and responsibilities of Presiding and Polling Officers, which the officials need to function on polling day. Further, he discussed on all the necessary procedures and sequence of events in the polling stations. In addition, he emphasized tendered and challenged votes and illustrated the same. He apprised the house of the significance of conducting the mock poll before the commencement of the actual poll in the polling stations. He also imparted adequate knowledge about the various functions of Electronic Voting Machines.
Thereafter, the functioning of the Electronic Voting Machines (Control and Ballot Units) was thoroughly explained by Mr Sherpa and later, hands-on training was also conducted to familiarize the trainees with Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).
The first round of the training programme for Presiding and Polling Officers I which commenced on 28th September under Gyalshing District was successfully concluded.

12th Annual SICUN General Meeting

Pakyong, September 30 (IPR): The 12th Annual SICUN General Meeting was conducted at the Auditorium hall of Sikkim State Cooperative Union, Assam Lingzey today.
During the meeting, various agendas such as consideration of the Audit report and audited statement of accounts from April 2020 to March 2022, consideration of achievement of training and other activities of training and other activities during the calendar year were discussed and approved. Proposals for the amendment of bye-laws were also presented in the course of the meeting such as institutional stay businesses.
The Chairman in his short address appreciated the work done by the staff of SICUN during the Covid-19 pandemic. He thanked the Cooperation Department and the Hon’ble Chief Minister for funding assistance for paying the pending payments and providing the salary for SICUN members.
The day saw the presence of Chairman SICUN, Shri L.P. Kafley, Vice Chairman SICUN, Shri Tashi Ongdup Lepcha, CEO Chairman SICUN, Shri Phadung Bhutia, Joint Registrar Cooperation Department, Shri O.T. Lepcha, AD Finance Department, Shri Mahendra Pradhan, board members, concerned Govt officials and representatives of various cooperative societies.
