Naam-Aal-Namsoong Celebration concludes at Leethyang village Yuksam under Gyalshing district

GYALSHING, Dec 31, (IPR): The Naam-Aal-Namsoong celebration at Leythang village in Yuksam concluded today with a cultural extravaganza and the final of a Futsal tournament.
Yuksam SDM Shri Tshering T. Bhutia was the
chief guest of the occasion and social worker S.K. Samphang was the guest of honor. Others present were former Zilla panchayat Mrs.Tara Gurung, Gram Panchayat members, local dignitaries and the public at large.
The celebration started on December 20 with the Futsal tournament. The celebration aimed at preserving and promoting Lepcha culture which showcased traditional programs, Lepcha folks songs and dances, local delicacies, arts and artifacts and indigenous cultural programs over the course of an eleven-day-long celebration.
Sikkim’s of major traditional festival, Naam-Aal-Namsoong is a harvest festival celebrated by the indigenous Lepcha tribe of the Himalayan state Sikkim is the time when farmers rejoice and celebrate their harvest, the result of a year of hard work.
The eleven-day-long Namsoong celebration was organized by a Leethyang village-based local NGO, ‘Leethyang Susang Club”.
In the later part, the evening program had the Transport department Chairman Shri Basant Tamang as the Chief Guest.

HCM attended the State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival

Mangan, 31st Dec (IPR) : The grand finale of three-day Namprikdang namsoong festival mela was concluded successfully at Namprikdang, Dzongu today.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri P. S. Tamang attended the State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival 2022, as the Chief Guest on the final day of three days long festival, today. The program also had the presence of Deputy Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly Shri Sangey Lepcha, Minister Shri M.N Sherpa, MLAs, Political Secretary to HCM North, Zilla Adhyksha Mangan, Zilla Upadhyksha Mangan, Secretary’s, D.C Mangan, ADM Mangan, ADC (Dev) Mangan, ADC (Dev) Chungthang, SDMs, BDOs, Officers & Officials, Panchayats, dignitaries and local gentry
During the mela competitive activities such as tug of war and traditional performances along with an exhibition of the making of the revered Lepcha hat named, traditional food and attire in various stalls and so on were on display.
The Chief Guest, HCM Shri Prem Singh Tamang in his address eulogized the dedication and effort made by everyone in order to effectively and successfully conduct a traditional mela in this age of technology and modernism. He also mentioned the importance of education and urged the citizens to make the most of the initiatives and schemes such as Mukhya Mantri Scholarship scheme and so on. He urged that the provision of services to help the people and further develop the district in sectors such as health, tourism and such be done. He also mentioned the various course of action that could be taken collectively by everyone for the advancement of society and urged everyone to continue working hard.
Area MLA, Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha welcomed the esteemed guests on behalf of the inhabitants of North District and thanked them for accepting the invitation on such short notice. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the significance of the occasion and its role in preserving the tribal traditions and culture of Lepcha community. He also mentioned a series of ongoing developmental work in the district along with the numerous achievements acquired by the government for its people.
The winners of the folk dance competition and tug of war were accoladed with prize rewards along with pork and millet beers.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Sonam Lama attends the second day of State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival

Mangan, December 30th (IPR): The second day of State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival 2022 was graced by Minister, Shri Sonam Lama as the Chief Guest.
Also present were MLA Dzongu, Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Zilla Adhyksha Mangan, Zilla Upadhyksha Mangan, ADC (Dev) Mangan, SDM Dzongu, dignitaries and local gentry.
The second day of the festival featured various traditional programs, traditional sports and live performances by revered artists.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest, Shri Sonam Lama conveyed his warm wishes on the occasion of Namsoong. He applauded the enthusiasm and effort of the people of Dzongu for splendidly celebrating the festival since 1976 which, he highlighted, has been conserving and promoting the vanishing tradition and culture of the Lepcha community.
Later, the minister also offered his condolences and prayers on the demise of Smt. Heeraben Modi, revered mother of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

The State-level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival commences

Mangan, December 29 (IPR): Three days long State Level Namprikdang Namsoong Festival 2022 commenced in a grand manner at Namprikdang ground, upper Dzongu, today.
Minister, Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha inaugurated the festival as the Chief Guest, accompanied by MLA Dzongu, Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha.
The Chief Guest was received at the Namprikdang ground by, Zilla Upadhakashya Mangan, ADC (dev) Mangan, BDO Dzongu and the local gentry.
The three days long festival is being celebrated with the aspiration of preserving and promoting Lepcha culture. The festival will feature music & traditions programs, local delicacies, arts & artifacts and indigenous sports over the course of three days.
At the outset, MLA Dzongu, Shri Pintso Namgyal Lepcha in his short address, conveyed his warm welcome to everyone present on the first day of the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest, Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, expressed his happiness on witnessing the festival here at Dzongu.
He further extended his warmest greetings on the auspicious occasion of Namsoong.
In his address, he praised the land of Dzongu as heaven on earth and applauded the progress made by the people in the region.
Lastly, he gave a brief talk on various upcoming education policies in the state, which would benefit the prohibition teachers and directly improve the quality of education in the state.

The Administration at the Doorstep of Chujachen Constituency was headed by HCM

Pakyong, December 29 (IPR): As per the direction of The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, “the Administration at the Doorstep” of Chujachen Constituency, under Pakyong District was headed by the Chief Minister himself with a mass meeting with the public today at the community hall of Rongli Bazar.
The meeting also had the presence of MLA Mr. Bishnu Khatiwara, MLA Mr. K.B Rai, Former MLA Mr. Bikram Pradhan, Zilla Panchayats, Ward Panchayats, Secretary-CM Office Mr. SD Dhakal, DC Pakyong, SP Pakyong, ADC Pakyong, ADC Development, SDM Rongli, BDO Rhenock, Regu and Pakyong, HoDs of line department, Officials from Chief Minister’s office along with Police personnel.
The day commenced with a briefing by the HCM, wherein he mentioned that the 11-hour-long public meeting shall involve the execution of varied public works including appointments to Government services and medical assistance to ailing patients.
The public meeting reportedly witnessed a huge gathering of the masses wherein the chief minister attended various public works. Medical assistance through the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme to 45 ailing patients from Dalapchen was also released.
Likewise, the HCM informed that he shall further meet the public of Rhenock on 08th January 2023, followed by Gnathang- Machong on 12th January 2023.
The meet was organized in a systemic way wherein, for public convenience and hassle-free services help desk was provided by the volunteers.
Earlier, in the first hour, the HCM as well attended a weeklong Srimad Bhagwat Puran at Kingston, Rhenock.

Press Release from State IEC Bureau H&FW Department

A mock drill on COVID-19 was conducted on 27th Dec’2022 at STNM and district hospitals and during which, data were collected on the infrastructure, manpower, equipments, medicines, test kits, lab & ambulances. The drill was conducted under the supervision of the Commissioner cum secretary, Health and the data were collected for STNM under the supervision of AMS STNM, for Districts, it was done under the supervision of CMO/ DMS and the overall supervision was seen by PD (I), Head office.
The data are further scrutinized & compiled by District Surveillance Officers of respective Districts & entered into the COVID-19 India portal. Further, the PSA Oxygen plants ICUs, Equipments, Medical Store, etc. were checked physically by the concerned Officers and staff.
This exercise is to see how prepared the States are in dealing with upcoming waves & surges, further, it will give insight into our own system to mend things before we are hit by the disease.

Delegation from Australian High Commission visits Central Referral Hospital

GANGTOK, 26 December 2022- Ms. Terri Buckney- First Secretary, Regional Consular Officer, Australian High Commission, New Delhi and Mr. Rajiv Ghosh- Corporate Services and Consular Manager, Australian Consulate- General, Kolkata, paid a courtesy visit to Central Referral Hospital (CRH) under Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) here on 22 December.
During the visit, they met Dr. Yogesh Verma, Medical Superintendent, CRH and other senior officials to discuss the medical facilities available in CRH in case of any emergency medical intervention needed by Australian citizens when they are visiting Sikkim. They also toured the hospital.
Later, the delegates called on Dr. (Lt. Gen.) Rajen S. Grewal, Vice Chancellor, Sikkim Manipal University and held fruitful discussions on a wide range of issues. The Vice-Chancellor extended all support to Australian citizens in Sikkim in need of medical treatment on behalf of CRH and SMU.

Kitam Senior Secondary School celebrates Platinum Jubilee

Namchi, 24th December(IPR): The Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Kitam Senior Secondary School was celebrated with great enthusiasm and exuberance, which marked a historic moment in the history of Kitam Sr Sec School.
Honourable Minister of Urban Development Department, Shri L.B Das graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Area MLA Smt. Farwanti Tamang, MLA Rangang-Yangang Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Chairpersons, Officials, School staffs, Students and the Public at large.
The Chief Guest expressed his happiness and applauded the committee members for successfully organising the platinum jubilee of the school.

The event also contributed a moment of silence to honour the memory of the 16 army personnel who tragically lost their lives in a road accident in North Sikkim on the morning of December 23, 2022. Everyone stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect for the fallen soldiers.
During the event, the chief guest felicitated MLA Melli constituency Smt Farwanti Tamang(Chief Patron, PJCC), MLA Rangang-Yangang Smt Raj Kumari Thapa (Patron PJCC/Alumni ) and Mr. Bhim Prakash Pradhan sponsor of trophy and cash prizes For the Football match in memory of his Mother Lt. Dew Kumari Pradhan.
Generous financial assistance was provided to 20 patients under the Chief Minister Medical Assistance Cell(CMMAC) The assistance was given to help cover the costs of medical treatment and to provide some relief to the patients and their families.
As part of the celebration, a variety of cultural shows like dance, yoga show, and group songs were presented, including a raffle draw. A football final match was also played between Singling Sporting Club and Kanchenjunga Football club where Singling Sporting Club was announced Victorious.
The show performances were met with great enthusiasm and appreciation by the audience and served as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the region.
The platinum jubilee celebration ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Deepak Bhandari, Panchayat President Kitam Manpur GPU.
