A meeting to re–enact a law relating to registration and licensing of persons, entities and organisation engaged in tourist trade and matters connected

Gangtok, May 12: A meeting to re–enact a law relating to registration and licensing of persons, entities and organisation engaged in tourist trade and matters connected therewith under the proposed ‘The Sikkim Registration and Licensing of Tourist Trade Bill 2022’ was held at ParyatanBhawan,Tadong on 10.05.2022.
The meeting was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary,Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri G.P. Upadhyaya in the presence of Chairman STDC Shri Lukendra Rasaily, PCE cum Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Shri Prakash Chettri, tourism stakeholders and officers from the Department.
During the meeting, various points and issues on the proposed draft Bill were discussed in depth and feedback from the stakeholders was sought and taken note of, which would be incorporated in the said bill after the approval from the Government, accordingly.
The Additional Chief Secretary informed during the meeting that the main objective behind the Bill is ‘Ease of Doing Business’ by way of Cooperative involvement and management through digital platform. Further, he informed that the the proposed draft Bill would be available in official website (www.sikkimtourism.gov.in) of the department for seeking suggestions, if any, within ten days from the day of its publication in the website.
During the meeting, all the stakeholders whole heartedly welcomed the initiative of the Tourism Department and gave their suggestions. The suggestions would be incorporated in the proposed Bill. The proposed Bill shall replace the previous Sikkim Registration of Tourist Trade Act,1998
