All India Kanchenjunga Sikkim Trek 2019 conducted by Darjeeling & Sikkim GP NCC was flagged off

Namchi, 8th November (IPR): The ‘All India Kanchenjunga Sikkim Trek- 2019’ which is a national level trekking camp conducted by Darjeeling and Sikkim GP National Cadets Corps (NCC) was flagged off today. The trekking camp was inaugurated and flagged off from Kamrang by Group Commander Darjeeling and Sikkim Brigadier Dipak Banerjee.

This Corps is under the aegis of West Bengal and Sikkim Directorate and the venue for this camp is at 4th Sikkim Battalion National Cadets Corps Training Centre, Kamrang, South Sikkim.

A total of 1000 NCC Girls Cadets from various directorates of the country are participating and is under the able supervision of 4th Sikkim Bn NCC led by Lt. Colonel M. S Chauhan, VMS. It maybe mentioned here that the trekking camp commenced from 6th November will conclude on 19th November. The aim of conducting this camp is to develop leadership qualities, inculcate the value of adventure/outdoor activities and exposure amongst the NCC Girls Cadets of rural as well as urban areas.
The route for this camp will be the nearby mountains trails, which will start from base camp located at Kamrang to Samdruptse, Siddheswar Dham and ITI Kitchudumra. Each route will be led and guided by the concerned NCC officials and the participants will also be introduced to local practices such as organic farming, and will also explore on the rich cultural, heritage and scenic beauty of the district.
