Drama competition on Poshan Abhiyan under Namchi BAC

Namchi, 20th September(IPR): As a part of the celebration of Poshan Maah, a drama competition on Poshan Abhiyan under Namchi Block Administrative Centre(BAC) was held at the auditorium of Namchi Senior Secondary School today. Organised by Social Justice and Welfare Department South in collaboration with Education Department had the attendance of Principal Namchi Senior Secondary School Shri Lakpa Gyalpo Sherpa as the chief guest and was accompanied by District Programme Officer cum AD Nutrition (S) Smt.Jyotshna Khatiwara, AD Education Namchi BAC Shri K.B.Gurung, teachers and students from participating schools. Head Master Phalidara Junior High School Shri Suresh Kumar Subba, Head Master Purano Namchi Shri Bikash Manger and District Programme Officer were in the panel.
The drama competition was participated by the students of Namchi Senior Secondary School, Namchi Girls Senior Secondary School, Namchi New Secondary School and Singithang Junior High School.

Similar programmes was also held in other Block Administrative Centres namely, Namthang, Poklok Nandugaon, Ravangla, Sikkip, Sumbuk, Temi Tarku and Yangang in the district.

While outlining a brief objective of Poshan Maah, District Programme Officer said that this abhiyan was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi with a vision to address malnutrition

The best drama was bagged by the students of Namchi New Secondary School followed by Namchi Girls Senior Secondary, Namchi Senior Secondary and Singithang Junior High Schools. The chief guest and other dignitaries presented the certificates to the winner and runners up team respectively.

MLA SORENG CHAKUNG accompanied by Political Secretary to HCM lays the Foundation Stone for the construction of Indoor Gymnasium Building at Soreng, West Sikkim.

Soreng, 20th September, 2019 (IPR): The Foundation Stone laying ceremony program for the construction of Indoor gymnasium building at Soreng was conducted by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department at Soreng,West Sikkim. The Hon’ble MLA Shri. Aditya Golay graced the occasion as Chief guest. He was accompanied by Hon’ble Political Secretary to HCM Shri. Jacob Khaling along with Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs Department Shri. Kuber Bhandari, Director Shri. N. K. Pradhan and Addl. Chief Engineers Shri. Hari Shanker Sharma and Smt. Shanti Tamang along with other Engineers from Sports and Youth Affairs Department.

Addressing the gathering MLA Soreng Chakung appreciated the project funded by Khelo India. He mentioned that the Project when completed would cater to the needs of young and talented players of not just the Soreng-Chakung Sub Division but the State as well. He encouraged the Sports Department to nurture new talents and make the state proud through their collaborative efforts and hard work. He also congratulated extended his best wishes to the Secretary and the engineering wing for their works.

The Secretary presented the welcome address where he briefed the gathering on the stipulated cost of the project and the vision of the department for the following years.
The Project consists of facility for Multi Purpose Indoor Games with accommodation facility for 20 Boys and 20 Girls for residential Events. The cost of the Project is 7.90 crores and is stipulated to be completed within 18 months under the contractor Sh. Santosh Sharma.

DC East extended his gratitude to HCM

Gangtok, September 20: (IPR) The District Collector, East Shri Raj Yadav,IAS extended his gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shr Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) for have adopted Amba GPU under Pakyong BAC, East Sikkim as a pilot GPU to be transformed it into a Model and peer learning center.
Further, District Collector assured to prepare Action Plan after coordinating with all the departments and bring it into action in the next six months.



One meeting was conducted today on 20/9/2019 at 11 Am by District Collector, East /SP, East with Addl. SP (Traffic) all Police inspectors in the office of the SP, East. It is decided that on 23/9/2019 & 24/9/2019 (Monday & Tuesday) from 9 AM to 11 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM traffic movement from Indira Bye Pass point to Hospital Dara passing through DC Office and Palzor Stadium will be one way and that will lead to Deorali and Ganju Lama Dwar. It means no vehicle except Ambulance in said periphery against the vehicle movement will be allowed (Indira Bye Pass point, DC office, Palzor stadium, Hospital Dara, MG Marg point, Deorali, Ganju Lama Dwar and again Indira Bye Pass point) during above mentioned time and date.
It should be noted that it is only trial to find out the solution of traffic jam in Gangtok.
All people are requested to cooperate in this exercise. After getting positive results meeting with all stake holders will be conducted to solve the other issues.


HCM PS Tamang (Golay) visits Tsong village and surrounding areas

Gyalshing, 19th September, 2019 (IPR): The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) along Hon’ble MP Lok Sabha Shri. Indra Hang Subba; Deputy Speaker Shri. Sangay Lepcha; Education Minister Shri. K. N. Lepcha; PHE Minister Shri. B. H. Subba; Political Secretary to HCM Shri. Jacob Khaling; DC West Shri. Karma R. Bonpo; SP West Shri Tenzing Loden Lepcha and HODs of Line Department visited the landslide affected areas of Tsong and Mangtabung, West Sikkim.

During the visit HCM directed the District Collector to disburse the exgratia at their earliest. He also mentioned that all affected households will be given the exgratia depending on the damages.
Aside from the exgratia admissible under SDRF Norms, the Honourable Chief Minister announced that he will provide 1 lakh to all the household whose houses are fully damaged and 50,000 to all houses which are severely and partially damaged from the CM Relief Fund. Further, he stated that his government will work dedicately to rehabilitate the affected people. He stated that a new house under Garib Awaas Yojana will be provided to all the victims whose houses are completely damaged. He also stated that the Mines and Geology department will survey the damaged areas to determine the stability of the affected areas. Based on the report of the department decision will be taken where to rehabilitate the people.
The HCM urged the Road and Bridges Department to swiftly restore the damaged roads for smooth connectivity and transportation of relief materials to the Relief Camp located at Yuksam.
Whilst interacting with the public of Yuksam and the landslide affected victims he mentioned that the State Government is with the people of Yuksam and has extend their full support to them. He also encouraged the District Administration and the relief machinery to work dedicatedly for the victims so that they can return back to their normal lives at the earliest.
He thanked all the Officials concerned who have done a commendable job since day one of the occurance of the natural calamity in taking swift action during the disaster. He also thanked the local people of Yuksam for being well composed and coordinated during the occurance of the landslides which happened at multiple spots of Yuksam further avoiding any casualties.
The HCM also disbursed the exgratia amount along with other necessary items like Sleeping bags, waterpipes and blankets to the landslide victims. He also announced a grant of 5 lakhs has been given from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the Relief Camp at Yuksam for providing the daily needs of the landslide victims. An amount of 4 lakhs from NDRF and 2 lakhs from CMs Relief Fund was given to the kins of Lt. Buddhi Maya Subba who expired due to injuries sustained in the lanslide. She was unable to be airlifted from Yuksam due to bad weather and tbe State Government had made all effort for her safety.
As informed by DC West a total of 76 houses which were damaged in the landslide. Huge area of land has been damaged beside many livestock has been lost. All support and relief as per NDRF will be provided to the victims. A relief camp has been setup in Yuksam and will function till the situation is normal. He stated that the District Administration will now work on the speedy rehabilitation of the affected people.

Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department organized a programme on Milking Competition & Calf rally

Regu, Sept 19: (IPR) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Department, Government of Sikkim organized a special programme on Milking Competition and Calf Rally with a pledge to conserve Siri Cattle at Chubba, North Regu, today.

Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Lok Nath Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in special presence of Secretary Agriculture Shri Khorlo Bhutia, Secretary Horticulture Shri DK Bhandari and Secretary Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri SB Subba. The programme was also attended by Directors, Schemes heads of concerned departments, SDM Ronglee Shri PR Dulal, BDO Regu Shri Bhim Pradhan, SDPO Rangpo Shri Dilip Tamang ,Officials and public notably from North and South Regu.

During the programme Hon’ble Minister handedover various facilities including Ten Numbers of Poly Tank, Twenty Polypipe and Community Nursery for Self Help Groups and Progressive Farmers under Horticulture Department. Ten numbers of Knapsack Sprayer, One Power Tiller and Five kilograms of seeds of Pea and Mustard for each Self Help Groups and Progressive Farmers under Agriculture Department. Two Jamunapari Cross Breed goat, Piglets( Male & Female) to each two beneficiaries, Forty numbers of Poultry and Cash Rs. 1390/- to each three beneficiaries and Rainbow Trout and Carp to three beneficiaries were also distributed under Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services.

Minister In his address, sanctioned Vegetable Collection Centre, Milk Diary, Stockman Centre for Lingtam Phadamchen & North Regu. He urged farmers to get registered under Prime Minister Krishi Samman Nidhi to be benefited under the scheme. The State Govt under the leadership of the Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) is fully determined to translate words into action to bring paradigm shift in economic and social upliftment of the people.

Minister marked that the day as the significant occasion for the people of the Regu and urged farmers to take benefits of distributed facilities and to use for output orientated and productive purpose. He also assured to provide subsidised schemes to the farmers under MSME and NABARD.

Minister outlined role of farmers and their contributions of paramount importance in fulfilling indispensable need of human life and informed on how the government is making effective mechanism to ascertain price of their production. The state has witnessed change in Government and work culture while we need to bring change in our mindset and thought process, he added.

Secretary Agriculture Shri Khorlo Bhutia enlightened farmers about the programmes and schemes including Prime Minister Krishi Sichai Yojana (PMKSY), Prime Minister Krishi Samman Nidhi, Floriculture, Compensation for damaged cultivation due to wildlife interference, He also urged farmers to get registered under PMKSN to enable themselves for the benefits. He also highlighted Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD) and subsidised loan available under various schemes.

Secretary AH&VS Shri Subba informed that the department is preparing a roadmap for Diary Farming, Poultry, Piggery, Fisheries etc and to establish infrastructures and to depute manpower at GPU level in near future. Secretary Subba said that the Siri Cow is one of the rarest animal species which needs to be conserved and propagated. He also informed about the future scope of Siri Cattle conservation and also directed the concerned officials to conduct research work on Siri cattle so as to benefit the farmers. He also asked to coordinate with farmers to address the demands of loan through NABARD. He also assured to take up matter related to conservation of reared species of “Sawney Paha”

Hon’ble Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma handedover cash award of Rupees Seven Thousand, Five Thousand and Three Thousand along with medals, certificates and trophy to the winner Shri Man Bdr Rai, Shri Tek Bdr Rai and Shri GT Lepcha who secured first, second and third position, respectively. Cash Award, Medals and Certificates were also presented to the winners of Calf Rally competition.
Additional Director-cum-CEO Sikkim Livestock Development Board Dr Sanjay M. Gajmer drew lights on overview of the programme and said that the programme was organised for the conservation of Siri Cattle. He also mentioned that the Hon’ble Minister led theinitiative to organise the event in active participation of Agriculture and Horticulture with AH&VS to provide maximum benefits to the people at one place.

Earlier, Progressive Farmer Shri Subash Rai and Krishna Gurung also shared their experiences and placed various demands In favour of farmers and the people of the locality.

Later, the Minister along with the officials visited fisheries farm and another proposed site of fisheries at Chubba. Thereafter Minister also made visit at Veterinary Centre located at South Regu in the evening and took stock on the facilities available. Requirement of residential quarter, drinking water tank and compound fencing was placed before the Minister.
