Sikkim and NCT Delhi Education Sign MoU for Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme Agreement on Several Programmes between the Education Departments of Sikkim and NCT, Delhi
New Delhi; November 23, 2019: The Department of Education, Government of Sikkim and the Department of Education, Government of NCT Delhi signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Delhi on November 23, 2019 to carry out programmes under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat being initiated by the Government of India. The MoU was signed by Sri GP Upadhyaya, IAS; Additional Chief Secretary, Sikkim and Mr Sandeep Kumar, IAS; Principal Secretary (Education), NCT Delhi.
As per the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, different States are paired up with other States. Sikkim has been paired up with Delhi for the year 2019-20 for this programme.
The two States have agreed to:
(1) Celebrate the Unity in Diversity of our Nation and to maintain and strengthen the fabric of traditionally existing emotional bonds between the people of our Country
(2) To promote the spirit of national integration through a deep and structured engagement between all Indian States and Union Territories through a year-long planned engagement between the States;
(3) To showcase the rich heritage and culture, customs and traditions of either State for enabling people to understand and appreciate the diversity that is India, thus fostering a sense of common identity;
(4) To establish long-term engagements and
(5) To create an environment which promotes learning between the States by sharing best practices and experiences
Through the Memorandum of Understanding for the calendar year 2019 till June 2020 the activities undertaken between these two States are indicated below:
01. Student Exchange between paired States
02. Sharing of best practices in governance in the field of health care, education, sanitation, tourism, Panchayati Raj, and use of technology.
03. Organizing Essay Competition and Online Quizzes on Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat State specific themes
04. Sponsoring literature translation and literature visits
05. Teacher Exchange Programme
06. NCC Cadets exchange through Directorate of NCC
07. Exposure of students of one state to alphabets, songs, proverbs and 100 sentences in the language of the partner State
08. Dance festivals: dances can be further popularized by conducting contests in schools and colleges with specific themes of partner States
09. Cultural festival with opportunity to learn culinary practices and photography competitions highlighting culture and heritage in schools and colleges of partner States
10. Organizing Mountaineering/ Trekking and camping expedition for Students of the States to their paired States
11. Student exchange, study visits at Higher Education level and exchange in the fields of vocational, technical and organic farming sectors.
12. Any other activity during the period specified as per mutual convenience of the partner States.
Bermiok, 23rd November (IPR): The Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry Shri Lok Nath Sharma made a visit to Sikkim Hatcheries Limited at Bermiok South Sikkim today.
He was accompanied by Additional Director Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (S) Dr. Mala Bajgai, Veterinary Officer Ms Suman Chettri In-Charge Poultry and Bull Farm Bermiok.
HM Sharma thoroughly inspect the Hatchery farm and directed the concerned department to submit the status report.
During inspection, HM Sharma also discussed at length the required manpower, necessary equipment’s and other infrastructure for proper functional of the farm.
Bermiok, November 23 (IPR): The Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, IPR and Printing and Stationery Departments Shri Lok Nath Sharma inaugurated Full Gospel Fellowship Church(FGFC) at Bermiok Daring, South Sikkim, today.
The programme was also attended by Pastor Dhurba Sishga, President,United Christian Welfare Society (UCWSS) Shri Eld.Patrus Gurung, Rev.Joshep Tamang, Sr.Pastor Arbor Kharshyantiew from Shillong, General Secretary (UCWS) Pastor Peltos Sunsav, Pastor Silas Rai, Pastor Ratan Rai,Pastor Jonathan Muletan and Pastor A.K. Aron.
On the occasion, Minister Sharma was also felicitated by the committee of the Church.
New Delhi; November 22, 2019:(IPR) The Education Department, Government of Sikkim, today was conferred with two awards in New Delhi by the India Today Group. Sikkim received the Best Performing State in the Small States category in Education Sector and Most Improved Small State in Governance in the Small States category.
In an award giving ceremony held in New Delhi today of India Today Conclave 2019, the Education Minister Sri Kunga Nima Lepcha and Additional Chief Secretary Sri GP Upadhyaya received these awards from Sri Prakash Javadekar, Minister, Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises (formerly Human Resource Development Minister).
These awards are conferred on Sikkim on the bases of several surveys carried pout by the India Today Group in Sikkim in Education sector. Innovative and best practices of Sikkim in the Education Sector like dust-bin-free schools in which students carry their own garbage bag and collect all the garbage to take back from the school and dispose off at designated garbage area has made some schools dust-bin-free. Concepts of pocket-money-free schools has helped students avoid buying junk food and eat freshly cooked healthy meal at schools. Swachh Bharat for a healthy mind and clean environment, energized textbooks and textbooks for primary classes with embedded Sustainable Development Goals of the UNESCO-MGIEP, 20% investment of the State budget in Education Sector, community participation and collaboration with the PRIs, introduction of KG Classes in pre-primary education, adoption of the schools by the Chief Minister, Ministers and eminent persons for all round development, organic farming and school kitchen gardens for vegetables in midday meals have been some of the prominent factors contributing to receiving these awards.
Sikkim is followed by Mizoram and Goa in the Best Performing State in the Small States category in Education Sector while Goa and Arunachal Pradesh followed Sikkim in Most Improved Small State in Governance in the Small States category.
The Hon’ble Minister, Education later in the evening participated in a panel discussion on several policies of the State Governments leading to such progress in education, health, tourism and other sectors including governance.
Gangtok, November 22: (IPR) As part of an ongoing programme, the Sikkim State Legal Services Authority (SSLSA) under the directions of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Judge, High Court of Sikkim and Executive Chairperson, SSLSA in collaboration with Sikkim Chapter of the Indian Psychiatry Society, organized Sensitization Programme on Positive Mental Health Programme for the Employees of Energy and Power Department on 22nd November, 2019 (Friday) at 10:30 a.m. at the Sikkim Judicial Academy, Sokeythang, East Sikkim.
The Sensitization Programme was in consonance to her Ladyship’s prime concern, which is with regard to the mental Health issues arising out of work stress and other factors which are being faced by employees, which needs to be addressed, and, for imparting sensitization and awareness amongst various State Government Department’s Officers/Officials regarding issues pertaining to mental health, preventative and curative steps thereto.
The Resource Persons for the programme were Dr. C.L. Pradhan, Consultant Neuro-Psychiatrist, who deliberated on the topic Mental Health while Mrs. Nancy Palmu Chankapa, Clinical Psychologist, Health & Family Welfare Department deliberated on the topic Healthy Life Style and Stress Management. The Session was followed by interaction between participants and Resource Persons who put forth queries on various mental health matters which were responded to by the Resource Persons.
In his welcome address Shri Sonam Palden Bhutia, Member Secretary, SSLSA, informed the august gathering about how Sikkim is grappling with issues of mental health including simple stress, depression and anxiety and how the SSLSA is making an effort to generate awareness on this issue which ails society at large. He also informed that this is the third such programme that the SSLSA has conducted for the employees of various Departments, programmes having been earlier conducted for employees of the Police Department and the Human Resources Department.
The programme was conducted by Shri Kunga Nima Barphungpa, Coordinator-cum-Office Superintendent and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Praveen Pradhan, Under Secretary, SSLSA while Mrs. Matilda Isaacs, Special Secretary and staff of the SSLSA were also present.
New Delhi, 22nd November 2019: (IPR) Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today attended 50th Governor’s Conference at Rashtrapati Bhavan alongside Governors and Lt. Governors from all the States and Union Territories.
The three day conference started today at Rashtrapati Bhavan with special session on Union Territories followed by Informal Meetings of the Governors and Lt. Governors at GDR, Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting was followed by High Tea hosted by The President and the First Lady at East Lawn.
Later on the day, the Vice President also hosted High Tea at Vice President’s Secretariat for Governors and the Lt. Governors.
The day also had a special meeting of Principal Secretaries to the respective Governors with the Secretary to the President of India where in the best practices and innovations followed at All Rajbhavan were presented in power point presentation, deliberated and exchanged.
