The 2nd Semi-Final of the 9th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup

Jorethang, 17th January (IPR): On the third day of Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela Hon’ble Minister for Roads and Bridges Department Mr. Samdup Lepcha graced the occasion as the chief guest. Also present were Hon’ble Minister for Energy and Power and Labour Department Shri M.N. Sherpa and MLA cum Chief Patron of the Mela Celebration Committee Ms. Sunita Gazmer alongside MLA Shri Aditya Golay, representatives from South District Football Association and Mela Committee and public at large.

The 2nd Semi-Final of the 9th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament was played between Transport United Bhutan Vs Oil India FC in which the latter emerged victorious with a scoreline of 3 to Nil.

The winner team Oil India FC will play against Shilong R.S.C in the final match on 19th January.

Government of India has proposed to celebrate Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week

Mangan, January 17(IPR): In order to bring visibility and create awareness on valuing of girl child the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India has proposed to celebrate “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week”- as to mark National Girl Child Day (i.e. 24th January 2020).

In this context, Additional District Magistrate, North, Shri Surat Gurung convened a meeting with SDM, Mangan, Shri Karma Thupden Bhutia, DRCHO, Smt. P. K. Basnett, Sr. W. O. Shri Norden Lepcha, DO/BBBP, Shri Wangchuk Wangyal Bhutia, and representatives from NGOs of the district.

It was informed that the celebration will commence from 20th January and concludes on 26th January 2020. This weeklong special campaign will carry out various activities in a campaign mode creating awareness and sensitizing people of the district about value of girl child.

ADC/N, Shri Gurung has directed the concerned officers and field functionaries to accomplish their duty with utmost dedication while duly following the guidelines of the Ministry.

coordination meeting for Republic Day 2020

Mangan, January 17: (IPR)A coordination meeting for Republic Day 2020 celebration was held here at the conference hall of District Collector, North today.

The meeting was chaired by the Additional District Magistrate, North Shri Surat Gurung along with ASP, North Shri Mahindra Subba, SDM, Mangan, Shri Karma Thupden Bhutia, Head of Offices of the district, representatives from schools and NGOs.

During the meeting the house unanimously decided that the 71st Republic Day will be celebrated at Zilla Panchayat Bhawan, Pentok in a grand manner.

The house also resolved various arrangements pertaining to the Republic Day Celebration and other allied aspects and accordingly all departments were been entrusted with their respective task in order to make the celebration a success.

ADC/N, Shri Gurung has urged all the government servants to attend the Republic Day celebration programme as a national duty. Further, he has directed all the Head of offices of the district to maintain strict attendance of their staff though the Republic Day falls on Sunday.

State Government Departmental Stalls at Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela

Jorethang, 17th January (IPR): The annual cultural and traditional festival of the South District, Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2020 themed ‘ Hamro Sanskriti Hamro Gaurav’
is being celebrated amidst much gusto. This five day long festival involves an array of activities. The festival also has a host of traditional and State Government Departmental stalls at display. The traditional stalls is located at the premises of New SNT complex whereas the departmental stalls has been put up at volleyball ground.

This year a total number of 33 stalls from various departments are there and the main objective of these stalls us to highlight the availability of schemes, departmental achievements and progress made by the State Government. This year too a melange of departments showcased their materials ranging from mountaineering kits from the tourism department to organic produces, legal aids clinic, health awareness schemes and many more. The Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela has provided an important platform in setting up these kind of stalls for smooth dissemination of imperative information directly to the public visiting the stalls.

Handmade Bamboo Water Bottles for Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela

Jorethang, 17th January (IPR): In, a bid to go eco friendly this year the organizing committee of Jorethang Maghey Sankranti Mela, 2020 has commenced on using hand made water bottles made out of bamboo. This organic bottles are attractive to look at wherein plastic free Sikkim has been encrypted there is also an image of the most popular flower of the state, orchid.

Dr. T. Ao North East Football Championship 2020

The 19 member Sikkim Team players along with the team coach and one manager lead by Mr Arjun Rai started journey today towards competition venue Kohima Nagaland. The Dr. T. Ao North East Football Championship is scheduled to be held from 18th to 28th January, 2020 at I.G. Stadium Kohima, Nagaland.
The captain of the team is Mr. Sanjay Chettri,
Coach is Mr. M.D.Lepcha.
Team Manager is Shri Arjun Rai.

Shri Kuber Bhandari, Secretary SYA during a see off program today at Paljor Stadium gave best wishes to the team and offered khadas and handed over track suits & jersey.
During the program, he conveyed the best wishes message of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P.S. Tamang to the team.

Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Jacob Khaling, MLA cum Chief Patron of the Mela Celebration Committee Ms. Sunita Gazmer, representatives from South District Football Association and Mela Committee alongside public at large.

The first Semi-Final of the 9th All India Chief Minister’s Gold Cup International Football Tournament was played between Shillong R. S. C Vs Sports Hostel Odisha in which the former emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6 to Nil.

The meeting of District Task Force on Immunization on HPV vaccination and Pulse Polio

Mangan, 16th January 2020: (IPR) The meeting of District Task Force on Immunization on HPV vaccination and Pulse Polio was held at the chamber Additional District Magistrate, Shri Surat Gurung, today.

The said meeting being organized by the District Health Society North was attended amongst other by the Dr. D.C Sharma (CMO/N), Dr.P.K Basnett (DRCHO/N), Dr.Roshan Poudyal Paediatrician, Mr. Narendra Kumar (Deputy Director/HRDD) and other representative from ICDS of the district.

During the meeting, Dr. P K Basnett informed that Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) program is going to held on 19th January 2020, (Polio National Immunization Day) under which children between the age of 0-5 years will be given Pulse Polio drops. The main purpose of the programme is to eradicate Polio in the district in particular and also in the state as a whole.

Detail programme such as implementation process , preparation and logistic arrangement was discussed for conducting booth activity on 19/1/2020(Sunday) and all the ICDS centers shall remain open during 19th of January followed by house to house activity on 20/1/2020 & 21/1)2020.

Dr. P K Basnett , informed the house that there a total estimated children’s below 05 years are 2518 and the total household to be covered is 9200 in the district .She also mentioned that Deworming Day will be held on 3rd March 2020 and Mop- Up Day will be held on 12th March.

During the meeting it was appealed to the general public to approach their nearest pulse polio booth centre with the children of age between 0-5 years for 100% coverage so that better future of children’s could be ensured.

Jorethang, 16th January 2020( IPR): Principal Secretary RDD, Shri C. S. Rao alongwith Director SIRD, Shri Bishal Mukhiya handed over the National Award to Honourable Chief Minister at Karfectar, SIRD complex, today.

The said award was received on 19th december, 2019 by the department in New Delhi. Present on the occasion were Minister Power Department, Shri M. N. Sherpa, Political Secretary to HCM Shri Jacob Khaling, Commissioner RDD, Shri P. Senthil Kumar, D. C. South, Shri Ragul K, S. P. South, Shri Praveen Gurung, ADC South, Shri Satyen Pradhan, SDM Jorethang, Shri R. B. Bhandari, SDPO Jorethang Shri S. K. Shrestha alongwith Block Development Officers and distinguished officials of south district, and local gentry.

SIRD Sikkim was bestowed with the National Award for overall performance in respect of Training Programmes in North Eastern and Hilly areas during 2018-19 by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The award was received by Principal Secretary RDD, Shri C. S. Rao accompanied by Director SIRD and PR, Shri Bishal Mukhiya.

Rural Development Department, Government of Sikkim, had bagged eight (8) National Awards in different categories in the National Award Ceremony organized by Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India on 19th December, 2019 at National Agriculture Science Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. The Ceremony was chaired by Hon’ble Union Minister RD & PR and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar along with
Hon’ble Minister of State for Rural Development, Government of India, Smt. Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P. S. Golay congratulated the team and encouraged the department to keep on dedicating towards the overall development of the state and expressed gratification for the impressive performance and in receiving the award.
