Namchi,12th April (IPR): ATMA- South Sikkim under Agriculture Department in collaboration with Horticulture Department and Damthang Jaubari VAC organizes “Two days Exhibition cum Competition of Vegetables and Flowers at SAGY village (Damthang-Jaubari)” from 12th to 13th April 2021.
The function was graced by Shri Phurden Lepcha, Hon’ble Chairman, Farmers Welfare Board as a Chief Guest, Dr CP Rai, ADC (Dev) Namchi as Special Guest. Mrs Tshering Dem Bhutia, Zilla Adakshya (South), Mrs Babita Rai, BDO (Namchi) All honourable Panchayats of the GPU, JD Agri cum PD ATMA, JD Horticulture, Dy PD ATMA, HDO (Floriculture)South, other officials from ATMA, Agriculture and Horticulture department were also present among others.
Farmers of Damthang- Jaubari GPU displayed different kind of vegetables, seasonal flowers, Cymbidium orchids and Azalea for competition. Farmers from other blocks of South Sikkim also visited the Exhibition.
The competition was organised in four categories viz., Vegetables, Cymbidium Flower, Azalea Flowers and Seasonal flowers. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in each category of the competition were awarded cash and a Certificate. Consolation prizes to all the participants shall also be awarded for encouragement and their valuable participation.

Village and Digital Connect Drive conducted in Namchi Sub Division

Namchi, 12th April 2021: A one Day visit under “Village and Digital Connect Drive” under Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana –a TRIFED (The Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India) scheme under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India was Conducted in Namchi Sub Division on 09.04.2021. The Team was accorded a traditional and warm welcome by the Van Dhan Kendras (MPCS’s). The Team consisted of Mr. Santosh-Techinical Assistant, TRIFED-Delhi, Mr. Asif Ekbal –Senior Program Officer, TRIFED-Guwahati, Mr. Indra Mani Adhikari-Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Mr. Atish Rai-Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies-Department of Cooperation, Gangtok and Mr. D.R. Sharma Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies-South along with other District Officials. The Team visited 3 (three) Van Dhan Vikas Kendras under Namchi Sub division viz: Salghari MPCS Ltd, Sadam MPCS Ltd and Tanzi Bikmat MPCS Ltd. under PMVDY-Namchi. The team interacted with the SHG members under the Van Dhan Vikas Kendras with regards to digitally connecting the members of the SHG’s via emails, Whatsapp and Video Conferences. The team also inspected the various products displayed by the SHG’s under the banner of the Van Dhan Kendras and appreciated the efforts of the SHG’s.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Gangtok, April 11(IPR): On the occasion of Tika Utsav (Vaccination Festival), Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at STNM Hospital, Sochyagang, today. The spouse of Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Krishna Kumari Rai, Hon’ble Minister for Rural Development Department Shri Sonam Lama, Secretary to HCM Shri S.D.Dhakal and other officials also received the COVID-19 vaccine. In his brief address to the media, the Chief Minister appealed to the masses who are in the age group of 45 years and above to come forward and participate in the Tika Utsav. In the same manner, he also urged everyone to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 appropriate behavior which includes frequent hand washing, wearing of a mask, follow physical distancing to curb the transmission of the virus. The Chief Minister also extended gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for providing the COVID -19 vaccine free of cost and also stressed on ‘Dabai Bhi Kadai Bhi’. He stated that Sikkim is well equipped with the COVID-19 testing and treating equipments with the support of experienced Doctors, Nurses and other Front Line Workers. Moreover, he appealed to the masses to abide by the COVID-19 preventive measures and stick to the guidelines at all times. He also requested the public to restrict unnecessary movement so as to prevent the spreading of the second wave of the virus.
