Mabong, 13th Feb,2019 (IPR): Minister-cum-Area MLA, Salghari Zoom constituency Shri. Arjun Kumar Ghatani inaugurated a newly constructed house under Chief Minister’s Rural Housing Misssion (CMRHM) at Lower Sigeng / Ward No 6 and handed over to the beneficiary Shri. Raj Man Tamang, today.

Inauguration of the newly built District Forest Complex at Namchi

Namchi, 13th February (IPR): Minister for Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department Mr. Tshering Wangdi Lepcha inaugurated the newly built District Forest Complex at Namchi today. Built at an estimated cost of Rs one crore forty six lakh, the two storied infrastructure houses the offices for DFOs and ACFs of social forestry, land use, wildlife and territorial, staff including lounge and public utility.The programme was attended by DC (South) Mr Prabhakar Verma, S.P. (South) Mr Manish Verma, Conservator of Forest (T)Mr Nima Wangdi Tamang, CCF (FCA) Mr Udai Gurung, DFO(T), Ms.Pegyla Tshering Venchungpa, Chairman, Councellors of Namchi Municipal Council along with Heads of Department, forest officials and staff.

After the inauguration programme, the Minister alongwith other dignitaries took a brief inspection of the complex.

Addressing, the gathering the Minister congratulated the forest officials and the staff for putting in their hardwork and dedication for the smooth functioning of the forest department which he said is highly commendable.He added that the newly established infrastructure will meet the requirements of a composite forest complex for south district. He also spoke in length about the several eco-friendly measures adopted and implemented by the State Government and called upon the departmental officials and staff to discharge their duties diligently.

At the onset, DFO (T) gave the technical report wherein she elaborated on the project which she informed commenced from the year 2015 she also brought to light that the plan was approved and sanctioned under Environment Cess. She updated that the building has a total of 8 officers rooms for both DFOs and ACFs of the respective four divisions. The rooms for the office staff has been designed as per corporate staffing keeping in mind the ease with which functioning can be discharged.

GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, calls on Hon’ble Chief Minister

Gangtok, Jan 29: (IPR) GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, Lieutenant General Manoj Mukund Naravane called on Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling at his official residence at Mintogang today. This was the first meeting of the GOC with the Chief Minister since he took over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command on the 1st of October 2018.

After exchanging pleasantries, Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling thanked the GOC for his visit to Sikkim. He said that the State Government has had a very cordial relation with the army and there is no civil-military tussle of any kind. He also recorded his appreciation for the consistent help provided by the army to the civilian population and tourists during times of distress, natural calamities or adverse weather conditions.

The GOC also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for providing support to the army at all times. He lauded the environmental initiatives of the State and the emphasis laid on sanitation. He said that the Army would lend every possible support to facilitate free movement of tourists and visitors within permissible limits.

In the end, the GOC extended his invitation to the Chief Minister to visit the Eastern Command Headquarters in Kolkata.

The GOC was accompanied by senior officers of the Eastern Command.
