Soreng, 21st April: The Court complex and residential bungalow of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Soreng, West Sikkim was inaugurated today by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim in the presence of Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, Judges, High Court of Sikkim and Hon’ble Minister Mr. R.B Subba, Law and Legislative, Parliamentary Affairs, Sports and Youth Affairs and Human Resources Development Department.
The foundation stone for the Court complex was laid down on 30th May 2015 and construction has been completed now and handed over.
While congratulating the Government, Hon’ble the Chief Justice requested the Government to provide ministerial staff and other infrastructures for the Courts so that justice can be delivered speedily and without any hindrance.
While highlighting on the growing number of cases under POCSO Act, he stated that children are the vulnerable section of our society and it is our moral obligation and duty to protect them.

SIX NATIONAL AWARDS FOR SIKKIM
Gangtok, April 18: (IPR) The Government of Sikkim will be lauded once again by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India when he will hand over six (6) National Awards in different categories to the representatives from the Directorate of Panchayati Raj, RM&DD and Rural Local Bodies in Jabalpur ,Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of National Panchayat Raj Day on the 24th of April 2018.
Sikkim managed to secure the first position among the first category States for excellence in implementation of e-Panchayat initiatives.
Besides, Sikkim has bagged one of the three National Awards for effective implementation of Gram Pnchayat Development Plan in the very first year of the institution of such an Award by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

The delegates will be leaving for Jabalpur to attend the two day event starting from the 23rd with a Maha Panchayat wherein 2-3 Panchayat Presidents of Sikkim will be participating in the Panel Discussions on various aspects of PRIs. This will be followed by the Awards ceremony on the 24th of April 2018 which is also celebrated by PRIs across the country as National Panchayat Raj Day.

Swatch Bharat Parv was observed in North Sikkim
Mangan 18 April:(IPR): As part of the Gram Swaraj Abhayan special intervention programme which is in effect from 14th April to 05th May, Swatch Bharat Parv was observed with massive cleanliness drive in all offices, schools and GPUs to retain the ODF status in North Sikkim. A review meeting was held with the Central monitors at the chamber of the District Collector North regarding the implementation of the Gram Swaraj Abhayan. The Meeting was attended by ADC(Dev), SE(Power), CMO (N), all BDOs and Bazaar Inpector (MNP).

Namchi, 12th April: On behalf of South District Administration DC (South) Mr. Raj Yadav under Corporate Social Respondibility (CSR) handed over cheque of Rs One Crore (1 Cr) to Minister of Energy & Power cum Chairman, Mani Choekarling Development Mr. D.D. Bhutia today. The cheque has been provided in order to assist in developing, restoring and renovating the Cho-Dzo lake located in Ravangla, as one of a kind theme park. South District NIC developed a website for 36-Mamley Kamrang GPU
Namchi, 12th April(IPR):Under District Administration Adopted Village (DAAV) Scheme the South District National Informatics Centre (NIC) has developed a website for 36-Mamley Kamrang GPU. The website provides details about the activities conducted under DAAV alongwith other substantial information namely that of Demography, MGNREGA and a brief overview about the Gram Panchayat.
DC (South) Mr. Raj Yadav informed that the aim to develop the website is to improve transparency in administration activities and to encourage public participation while implementing schemes.
Additionally, in order to give impetus to the booming tourism sector particularly in South Sikkim the website has listed various festivals organized in South District and the visiting tourist can browse the website for any kind update regarding the festivities. The website www.mamleykamranggpu.nic.in can be accessed by anyone, without the need for login credentials, and that the public can route data at district and panchayat levels in various formats, including annual development plan of MGNREGA 2017-18 and Five Year perspective plan of 36- Mamley Kamrang GPU.
Counselling programme for the students selected under Dr B.R.Ambedkar Scholarship 2018
The Human Resource Development Department organized a counselling programme for the students selected under Dr B.R.Ambedkar Scholarship 2018. These 4 students selected under the Scheduled Caste Scholarship Scheme have topped in their respective districts in Class V (five) in the academic session 2017 from all the four districts among. The programme was held at the chamber of the Director, Primary Education/ SSA, today.
Director Shri Bhim Thatal congratulated all the students who have topped in their respective districts and informed that this year the students will be sent to Delhi Public School, Yamuna Nagar in Haryana for further studies.
He also highlighted on the scheme which was announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Pawan Chamling on April 14, 2015 at Chintan Bhawan. As per the scheme, Scheduled Caste students under the Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme are sent after the students under the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Scheme (CMMSS) and apart from 7% reservation in the CMMSS, 4 more students from the SC community are being sent out of the state every year. This is the third batch of the SC students under the Ambedkar Scholarship Scheme, he informed.
The names of the students selected under this scheme are:
1. Mr Prajwal Thatal – Khamdong Sonamati Memorial Government Senior Secondary School
2. Mr Sumit Sunar – Langang Government Secondary School
3. Ms Sharmila Kami – Bakcha Primary School
4. Ms Pratikcha Ramudamu – Yangyang Government Senior Secondary School
The selected students were given counselling by the Director/Primary Education, Shri Bhim Thatal in the presence of other senior officials from the Department. He informed the students about the system of education and discipline to be maintained by the students in the selected school. The Director also interacted with the parents of these students and teacher representatives of some schools and elaborated about the scholarship scheme. He further stated that the students and their escorts will be provided with the travel cost by the HRDD.
The President of All Sikkim Scheduled Caste Association (ASSCWA) Shri Sekhar Sewa extended his support by offering to travel with the selected students and parents if need be. He also addressed the students and their parents and advised the students to be more industrious in their study in order to achieve higher goals in life.
The programme also saw the presence of Directors (SSA, Mid-day meal), Joint Director and Senior Officials from HRDD and President/ Vice President, ASSCWA.

CID Prosecution Branch destroyed huge amount of contraband substances
Gangtok, April 7 (IPR): CID Prosecution Branch destroyed huge amount of contraband substances (Drugs) here at Sichey District Court premises today in presences of Peshkar/Office Superintendent, District and Session Court East and North, Mr. T. Wangchuk Bhutia, CI (East) DSP, Mrs. Tshering Yangzom, Prosecution Branch (East) PI, Mr. B.B Chettri, media personnel and staffs of District and Session Court this morning.
A total of 13 types of drugs including cough syrups were destroyed by Prosecution Branch which was seized by police in 7 different police stations of east district of Sikkim.
Court Inspector (East) DSP, Mrs. Tshering Yangzom informed that these contraband substance were seized under 59 cases registered under Sikkim Anti Drugs Act, 2006 which has been disposed off by the trail court and the cases has also crossed its limitation period for appeal and the court had ordered that these contraband substances be destroyed without harming the environment.
The contraband substances destroyed today comprised of Spasmo proxyvon; 25,465 capsules, Nitrosum-10; 2,832 tablets, 929 bottles of various cough syrups and half kg of cannabis (Ganja).
3rd State Steering Committee Meeting for Immunization in the State
Gangtok, April 5: (IPR) Chief Secretary, Government of Sikkim, Shri A.K. Shrivastava chaired the 3rd State Steering Committee Meeting for Immunization in the State. The meeting had the presence and participation of Commissioner cum Secretary Health Shri Vishal Chauhan, and senior officers of all concerned departments as well as District Collectors of all four Districts.
The meeting was also attended by officers from partner organizations such as WHO and UNICEF.
The meeting began with the address by Commissioner cum Secretary Health Shri Vishal Chauhan. He briefed about the purpose of the meeting and the outcomes of the previous State Steering Committee Meetings. He stated that the meeting has been organized to review the Intensified Mission Indradhanush, it’s implementation on the ground, and the steps taken to achieve the target of 90% immunization by December 2018. He informed that Hon’ble Chief Minister will be releasing the HPV Operational Guidelines on the occasion of World Health Day on 7th April 2018. He called on the respective departments, especially the HRDD for upscaling the campaign in the Government and private schools in the State.
State Immunization Officer, Dr. Phumzay Denzongpa made a presentation on status of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) to be introduced in the State in the month of June, 2018. She further apprised the meeting about the status of implementation of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) in the State. She informed that the HPV is being introduced in the State to prevent the young adolescent girls from incidents of Cervical Cancer.
She informed in detail various stages of the preparedness for the Campaign, the process of Immunization, and the strategy adopted by the Health Department in convergence with other departments.
It was reiterated in the meeting that private schools should be sensitized to participate in the HPV Campaign.
The involvement and role of various departments was discussed in detail.
After a brief open house discussion by partner agencies, the meeting discussed about the feedback of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush by the Government of India.
Chief Secretary and Chairperson of the State Steering Committee, Shri A.K. Shrivastava in his address called for active participation of all the Departments invariably to make the Campaign successful and to ensure 100% coverage. He assures full support at every stage and encourages the district collectors and other functionaries to take the lead in coordination with the Health officials.
The meeting concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mission Director NHM, Dr. Bimal Rai.
