A meeting was held to discuss the celebration of upcoming Gandhi Jayanti

Gangtok, September 25(IPR): A meeting to discuss the arrangements for the celebration of upcoming Gandhi Jayanti was held at the Conference Hall, Tashiling Secretariat today.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary Shri. S. C. Gupta, and attended by ACS, Principal Secretary Home, DGP, Heads of Departments, DC East, SP East and senior officials of various line departments.
It was decided that the Gandhi Jayanti celebration will be held at MG Marg in a simple and brief manner with limited invitees.
The Chief Secretary allocated various works to all concerned departments and directed them to follow all protocols of COVID-19, keeping in view the current situation.
During the meeting, it was also informed that the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge on 31st October to be administered by all Departments and instructions if any, from the Centre Government regarding the same will be followed accordingly.

Press Release on Adolescence Education program

Namchi, Dated: 24.09.2020: Adolescence Education Program under National Population Education Project (NPEP), NCERT, New Delhi is an initiative that aims to empower young people with accurate, age appropriate and culturally relevant information, promote healthy attitudes and develop skills to enable them to respond to real life situations in positive and responsible ways. NCERT at the national level and SCERT at the state level co-ordinates the program and works through both the curricular and co curricular formats to contribute towards holistic development of the young people. National level Folk Dance and Role play competition are some co-curricular events that NCERT/ SCERT host every year under NPEP.
On 24.09.2020, under the above mentioned programme, Population Education Cell, SCERT in collaboration with DIETs organised Theme based District Level Role Play competition for schools of South and West districts separately in a virtual mode owing to the present pandemic situation. The themes for this year’s role play were:
Nutritious food and well being,
Personal Safety (physical, mental, emotional and sexual),
Safe use of internet, gadgets and media literacy and
Substance abuse and its causes and prevention.
The videos of the role play were shot by the participating schools and sent to respective co-ordinators from DIETs of south and west districts. The videos were played live at respective control rooms of DIETs in the presence of judges also connecting with the participants, Heads, nodal teachers and other guests through google meet.
Total of seven Senior Secondary and Secondary Schools of South District and eight Senior Secondary and Secondary schools from west district participated in the competition. Dr. Rabin Chhetri, Director, SCERT was present as chief guest at West District whereas Shri. D.B Subba, Deputy Director, Education Department (S), Namchi graced the occasion as the chief guest at South District. Shri K.C. Gyatso, Addl. Director, Education Department (W) was present as the guest of honour at west district.
Smt. Indu Gurung Gyaltsen,Incharge, Namchi Boy’s Sr. Sec. School, Smt.Deepti Pradhan, DIO, IPR Dept., Shri Mingma Dorjee Lepcha, Dance Icon from Sikkim, judged the event at South District, while at West District the event was judged by Shri Om Prakash Ghatani, Pricipal, DIET, West, Smt. Winnie Fred Rai, Principal, Darap SSS, and Shri Nanda Kumar Chettri, Music and dance Instructor, Kyongsa SS.
Rong SS, Govt. New SS, Namchi and Bermiok Tokal SSS bagged the first, second and third place respectively from south district while Chakung SSS, Gangyap SS and Rinchenpong SS bagged the first, second and third place respectively from the west district.
The overall program for both the districts was co-ordinated by Smt.Ranju Pradhan, State Program co-ordinator, NPEP. She was coordinated by Smt. Roshni Sharma, Asst. Professor, SCERT and Smt. Swarnalata Pradhan, Lecturer, DIET as coordinators, NPEP,West. Similarly from south district Dr. N.T.Lepcha, Asst. Professor, SCERT and Smt. Parumita Rai, Lecturer, DIET coordinated the program as coordinators, NPEP, South.
The winning three schools from each district shall participate for the State level Competition, the dates for which shall be announced soon.
