The Hon’ble CM was felicitated by the Sikkim Limboo Tamang Apex Committee

Gangtok, Jan 27(IPR): The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Pawan Chamling was felicitated by the Sikkim Limboo Tamang Apex Committee (SILTAC) in a felicitation function held at Samman Bhawan in the State Capital, today.

The Chief Minister was felicitated by SILTAC as a mark of gratitude for the commendable work done by the Chief Minister towards the upliftment and the betterment of the Limboo- Tamang community of the State of Sikkim.
Also present at the felicitation function was Shri.R.B Subba/Minister for HRDD and Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri. N.K Subba/ Minister for UD&HD ,Smt Chandra Maya Subba/MLA , Advisors / Shri AD Subba and Shri Sher Hang Subba, Legal Advisor/Shri KT Gyaltsen, literary figures from the Limboo-Tamang Community and various organisation and association members of the LT community from all over the State.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister in his acceptance speech acknowledged the felicitation of the SILTAC and thanked them for believing in the efforts and vision of the State Government towards elevating the LT Community of Sikkim. He appreciated the honourbestowed upon him and solicited all the members of the LT Community, especially the youth to refrain from believing in hearsays which are only propagated to create a rift in the peace and harmony of the State. Further, The HCM called upon them to take forward the message that not only the LT Community, but all communities of the State of Sikkim will get their rightful dues in accordance to the Constitution and the law of the land. He ended his acceptance speech with a re-assurance that the State Government is doing all that it can to ensure that the LT Community of Sikkimstands tall on its own without feeling the need to be dependent on anyone.
A brief report of SILTAC was also presented by Shri C.B Subba /Chairman SILTAC. SILTAC also presented a list of demands whereby the Hon’ble Chief Minister assured to look into all of them positively.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Shri Sushil Tamang /Vice Chairman SILTAC and the Vote of Thanks was proposed by Shri Kumar Subba/Chief Coordinator SILTAC.
SILTAC also presented a memento to the Chief Minister for his various national and international achievements due to his pursuits in the field of Organic Farming.

Towards the end of the felicitation function, the Chief Minister was felicitated by the All Sikkim Independent Schools Society in recognition of the tireless efforts of the HCM in converting Sikkim into one of the most progressive and modern States in the Country. The ASISS presented a Citation to the HCM and a Souvenir was also presented by the ASISS honoring the Chief Minister for being conferred with the One World Award at Legau, Germany and the title of “Ambassador of Organic World” at New Delhi in 2017.

The 69th Republic Day 2018 was celebrated at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok today

Gangtok, 26th January (IPR) : Along with the rest of the nation, Sikkim also witnessed the state level 69th Republic Day celebration here at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok today.
The Celebration began with the unfurling of National Flag followed by National salute by the Governor of Sikkim Shri Shriniwas Patil amidst National Anthem tune.
Thereafter Governor reviewed the Parade consisting of contingent from Indo-Tibet Border Police, Sasastra Seema Bal, Sikkim Armed Police, India Reserve Battalions, Sikkim Police, Sikkim Police Mahila Platoon, Army Pipe Band, Sikkim Police Pipe Band and Sikkim Police Brass Band.
The event was graced by the Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Pawan Chamling as the special guest accompanied by , Chief Secretary, Heads of Government Departments, Senior Government Officers, and the public.
Addressing the Republic Day celebration, Governor Shri Shriniwas Patil extended his best compliments and wishes to the people of Sikkim and further applauded the visionaries who framed the Constitution whose ideals have brought us to where we stand today.
Appreciating the role of brave police personnel for maintaining internal security Governor called for paying homage to martyrs who have laid down their lives for the country. He paid respects and greetings to the personnel of armed forces and their family members especially to those who guard the boarders of the state as well as the country in difficult and hostile terrain.
Governor spoke about the existence of democratic values and principles, unparalleled peace, progress and prosperity in Sikkim.
He further highlighted on the socio-economic growth of Sikkim and articulated the overall development of the state in various aspects like Education, Health and welfare, Rural development, Forest, Tourism which has enabled the state to be amongst the fastest developing states in the country. Sikkim has leapfrogged in progress and development, he added. He further hoped that the state would earn the status of Kutcha free house state in the near future.
The Sikkim government has introduced and implemented many innovative programs that has brought about positive and visible transformation in the State and Sikkim is one of the best States in the country recording impressive increase in many of the socio economic indicators, he said.
He also urged the public to join hands and work towards progress and prosperity. On this auspicious occasion, let us commit towards efficient governance, hard work and self reliance, he added.

During the function the Books which had been authored by notable writers from within and outside the State was released by the Governor. They are:
1. Book on Social Justice titled ‘Pawan Chamling – The Champion of Social Justice- a story of establishing a just society, New Sikkim- Happy Sikkim.
2. The Coffee Table Book titled The Record Breaker
3. The Coffee Table Book, Sikkim – The Organic Leader.
The Governor also visited the display of Army equipment displayed at the Parade Ground, Palzor Stadium. The Republic Day Celebration also saw Army Pipe Band Display, Band Music by Sikkim Police and cultural programme.
Gangtok, 26th January (IPR) :Every year, on the patriotic occasion of Republic Day, meritorious service givers of the law enforcement are awarded the Police Medal in recognition of their gallantry. The medal is awarded to any member of the police services without regard to rank or time in service. This year, three police personnel from the State of Sikkim were awarded the prestigious medal along with a citation.
Governor Shri Shriniwas Patil presented those Police Medal (National Award) to
1. Mr. Laxman Pradhan, Sub-inspector/ Retd, Sikkim Armed Police, Pangthang,
2. Mr. Tshering Bhutia, Assistant Sub- Inspector/Retd, Sikkim Armed Police, Namchi and

Governor also conferred the Sikkim State Meritorious Service Award to the 13 government employees for their commendable service.
