WEEKLONG CERTIFICATE TRAINING ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR) HELD AT VIGYAN BHAWAN, DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FROM 13th – 17th MARCH 2023.
A week-long certificate training on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was successfully held from 13th – 17th March 2023.
The program was organized by IPR Cell, Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Sikkim (GOS) and was supported through North East Centre for Training Application and Reach (NECTAR).
The inaugural program was held at Sidkeong Tulku Conference Hall, Forest Environment and Wildlife Management Department which was inaugurated by Dr. Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, NECTAR in the presence of Shri Bhuwan P. Pradhan, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Sikkim and Dr. B.C. Basistha, Principal Director, Biotechnology Division, (DST, GOS). The target participants of the program were research scholars from various state and central government research institutes including the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) and Indian Cardamom Research Institute (ICRI) and universities like Sri Ramaswami Memorial University (SRM), Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) and Sikkim University (SU).
Along with the students from various schools in Sikkim including Enchey Senior Secondary School, Deorali Girls Senior Secondary School, Tadong Senior Secondary School and West Point Senior Secondary School participated in the week-long training programme.
The objective of the program was to train the participants on various IPR acts like copyright, trademarks, patents, geographical indications, protection of plant varieties and semiconductor integrated circuit layout designs.
The resource personnel of the training program was a Patent Examiner from the Patent Office Kolkata, a Professor of Law from Sikkim University and an IPR Research Expert from the Department of Science and Technology.
The week-long training program was successfully completed on 17th March 2023. The hands-on learning experience from experts and the interactive session of this program has proved to be a rewarding and advantageous experience for the trainees, as expressed by the trainees.
The Sikkim State Council of Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology would like to extend its gratitude to the Government of Sikkim and NECTAR for their support. The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to all the trainees.
