Soreng, August 05, 2022: The first District Level Consultative Committee as well as the First District Level Review Committee of the Banks under the Lead Bank Scheme was held today at Soreng DAC, under the Chairmanship of District Collector, Soreng, Shri Bhim Thatal.
Shri Ashok Pradhan, Panchayat Vice – President, Soreng, Shri Rupen Lamichhaney, AGM NABARD, Shri Rahul Verma, Manager RBI, Shri Gopal Lama, Lead Bank Manager – SBI, Shri Anit Lamichhaney were the other dignitaries present during the meeting along with Soreng district bankers.
Shri Gopal Lama highlighted the gathering on main objectives behind conducting this meeting saying that it aims to achieve district-level coordination among the various stakeholders including district authorities and bankers in the particular District.
Various agendas were discussed in the meeting some of which included Credit Deposit Ratio of the Banks, Priority Sector Lending by the Banks
The DC, Shri Thatal in his address, congratulated the banks of the Soreng district for achieving the highest CD Ratio in the State and also said that there is still a lot of scope for improvement. He requested the banks especially the private banks to focus more on Priority Sector which included Agriculture and Allied Activities Sector, MSME Sector and Other Priority Sector. He suggested the banks to reach out to the people at the grassroots level by conducting Financial Literacy Awareness Programmes among the general public.
He said that Digital Banking is on the rise and so are the frauds associated with it, and therefore, the general public should be made aware of this also.
Lastly, he assured full cooperation from the District Authorities to the banks and also hoped the same would be reciprocated by all the stakeholders.
He also said that whatever CSR activities are conducted by the banks in the district should be routed through the DC, so that all the benefits are distributed equally among all deserving.
