Distribution of Milching Cows at Gyalshing

Gyalshing, March 17 (IPR): A programme was held at District Veterinary Hospital, Gyalshing on the distribution of Milching Cows. It was organized by the Office of the District Collector Gyalshing in coordination with the Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Gyalshing.
The project is funded under the NEC “Grant in Aid” to the Backward Limboo Community, Sikkim for the Financial Year 2021-22.
Hon’ble Minister PHED -cum-Area MLA, Yangthang Constituency, Shri Bhim Hang Limboo attended the programme as the Chief Guest and DC Gyalshing as Guest of Honour, accompanied by Chairman PHE, Shri Hari Narayan Subedi, ADC (Development), Shri Surat Gurung, Additional Director (AH&VS), Dr. Narad Cintury, BDO Gyalshing, Shri Bijay Prasad Subba, officials and beneficiaries.
Addressing the programme, the Minister apprised the members of the Limboo community would be benefiting under the scheme that was specifically approved for the Community by the NEC. He said that farmers whose livelihoods depend on milk production would increase their income and revive the rural economy. He further urged all the beneficiaries to provide adequate care and nurture to the animals.
The DC briefed the gathering about the Project and that 90 beneficiaries of every constituency would be covered. She informed the beneficiaries that such projects were possible due to the state government’s aim to make every citizen self-reliant, and economically progressive and to inculcate the spirit of entrepreneurship. She further requested all to not misuse the benefits by selling the cows off and informed that the district authorities would be closely monitoring how the dairy farmers would look after the animals.
Earlier, Dr. Cintury while delivering his welcome address, informed about the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and its importance. He also touched upon Mobile Veterinary Unit and further requested to avail the benefits as well.
Thereafter, the Minister along with all present paid a visit to the new hospital building under construction and directed the contractor present on the occasion to complete it on a war footing. A visit was also made to the Diagnostic Lab for Zoonoses.
A total of 20 Milching Cows were distributed along with medicines and supplements to beneficiaries of the Yangthang Constituency.
