Governor Shri Ganga Prasad attends Silver Jubilee Celebration of Loyola College of Education at Namchi.

amchi, 25th September(IPR): The Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad attended the Silver Jubilee Celebration of Loyola College of Education at Namchi, today. The guest of honour for the occasion was Dr. K. Jaya Kumar (Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor) also present amongst others were Mr. D.K. Pradhan (Director, Higher Education), Dr. Sandhya Rai ( Principal, Loyola College), Mr. Prabhakar Verma (DC, South), Mr. Shami Rai (SSP, South) alongside other dignitaries, officials and a host of students and teachers.

At, the onset of the celebration the Governor inaugurated the Loyola Jubilee Hall and inspected the various installations focussing on the diverse aspects of teaching and learning which was vividly displayed at the college premises.

Addressing, the gathering Governor Shri Ganga Prasad extended his congratulations and best wishes on the Silver Jubilee festivity of the college. The Governor expressed his delight on the college being the first in terms of ‘higher educational centre of teachers education’ in the state and underlined the college to consistently strive for excellency in the field of education. He also highlighted how the college has during the course of time brought about trained, capable and displined teachers. Shri Prasad emphasized that the teachers should aim to rear the students to be mentally strong so that they can withstand the challenges of life and world thereby transforming the society into a better and cultivated place to live in.

Shri Prasad also articulated how Sikkim has progressed as a state in providing quality education and urged the attendees to vigorously utilize the facilities laid by State Government under the education sector. Calling upon, the youths the Governor updated that they should bring about substantial and positive changes in order to build our vast country and the state. He also encouraged the youths to be more attentive and take advantage of the various endeavours of the Central Government namely that of Make in India, Swatchh Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat Yojana and many more.

Speaking, on the occasion guest of honour Dr. K. Jaya Kumar presented a brief ppt presentation on National Enterprise Portal and said that the portal will focus on aspects which will assist in uplifting the rural villages. He mentioned that the portal will include various innovative workshops and demonstration techniques which will aid the village and its citizens to connect via internet to different stakeholders.

Similarly, Principal Dr. Sandhya Rai, spoke in detail about the history of the institute. She underscored that the college is affiliated to Sikkim Central University and was established in the year 1993 wherein the first batch of teacher students was admitted in July, 1994. Dr. Rai informed that the mission of the college is to bring about an effective and efficient value oriented radical change with regard to education amongst the enrolled students. She also updated that the college has adopted a variety of community and eco-friendly practises through installation of water harvesting tanks and solar equipments.

The Chief Guest Governor Shri Ganga Prasad alongwith the dignitaries released the college annual magazine themed ‘Human Rights in Education’ and a book written by Rev. Fr Francis A.V.,Vice-Principal, Loyola College.
