Siliguri, 29 Jun (IPR): Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) met 25 doctors from Sikkim who are currently practicing in Siliguri at various hospitals.
He seeked suggestions from these doctors as to how the medical status of the State could be improved so that basic healthcare facilities could be provided for the benefit of the Sikkimese people.
The Sikkimese doctors shared various ideas with the HCM with regard to the upliftment and improvisation of the current healthcare service in the State which was acknowledged by the HCM with full appreciation. He also raised concern over the growing rate of diseases such as cancer, kidney problems and heart related issues and solicited their help with valuable inputs so that it can be implemented in the State.
The HCM also shared the present government’s ideas to improve heathcare services with steps such as using the old STNM for emergency services, availability of generic medicines, better services in district hospitals and PHCs , appointments of specialists, strengthening of manpower in paramedical and supporting staffs in medical services, etc so that basic healthcare facilities can be availed by the people at large and they will not have to travel afar for their health related issues.
