Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad granted audience to 60 National Youth Volunteers from 4 District of Sikkim

Gangtok 22nd September(IPR): The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad granted audience to a group of 60 National Youth Volunteers from four districts of Sikkim at a special event held at New Raj Bhavan today. The group was led by Smt. Madhavi Agarwal, Member, Board of Governors, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and Shri Sebasis Banerjee, Zonal Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sikkim. The group also had the presence of respective District Youth Coordinators from four districts.
It may be mentioned that a batch of 60 youths, drawn from 30 blocks across four districts, are undergoing 15 days National Youth Volunteers Induction Training at Sikkim Cooperative Union (SICUN) Headquarters, Assam Lingzey from 18th September 2019 to 2nd October 2019. The volunteers will be trained on leadership skills, basic life skills, social service, role of youth in transforming society, capacity building etc and will be serving in the respective blocks for next two years under the supervision of NYKS.
Smt Madhavi Agarwal briefed the Hon’ble Governor on the broader aims and objectives of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan where Shri Sebasis Banerjee provided brief insight into the training module and schedule of the induction training.

Hon’ble Governor in his brief address invoked the volunteers to be the agent of transformation of society towards achieving the vision of New India. He called upon the youth to lead the society on campaigns and missions of national importance such as Jal Sangrakshan, doubling farmers income by 2022, ban on single use plastic, Swachhata and Sanitation Campaign, prevention of substance abuse and alcoholism among youth etc. and bring transformation in society for better and sustainable future.
Hon’ble Governor also conveyed his blessings and best wishes to each volunteers for bright and successful future of volunteers in their respective spheres of work in society.
