Hon’ble MP inaugurates the 30 Bedded Girls Hostel for Dentam Senior Secondary School

Gyalshing, January 12th: The 30 Bedded Girls Hostel for Dentam Senior Secondary School was inaugurated by Shri Indra Hang Subba, Hon’ble MP, Lok Sabha today in the presence of District Collector, West Shri Karma R.Bonpo,(IAS), Shri Purna Hang Limboo, Incharge Dentam Constituency, Shri Surat Gurung, ADC (Dev), Gyalshing, Shri N.K Karki, SDM Dentam, Deputy Director, Education Department, Principals of Dentam, Hee Yangthang and Uttarey Senior Secondary School.
The 30 Bedded Girls Hostel will be exclusively used for housing the football players of Dentam Senior Secondary School in order to provide platform for their development in the sports. The Hon’ble MP Shri, Indra Hang Subba had been instrumental in establishing the hostel for aspiring girl footballers of the district. He garnered the support of all the stakeholders for the project and provided leadership for the success of the hostel. With the special direction of the Hon’ble MP Shri Indra Hang Subba, the Girls Hostel has been constructed by the District Administration, West and also has been fully furnished with all amenities.
The District Administration was able to furnish the hostel from the CSR funds provided by Rural Electrification Corporation. Under the CSR Support of REC CSR Foundation, funds to the tune of Rs two thousand will be provided to each child every month for their boarding and food facilities. A sum of Rs One Lakh and Eighty thousand only for the provision of food and boarding expenses for a period of three months for the hostel and further funds will be provided on submission of utilization certificates.
Shri Indra Hang Subba, Hon’ble MP who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest thanked all the stakeholders who had come together in helping set up the hostel for Girls football academy. He also commended the role of District Administration in setting up the hostel and stated that the vision of the State Government is to promote sports in a big way at Dentam. He stated, State Government is in the process of constructing Sports Stadium in Dentam and all necessary proposals have been prepared in this regard. He stated that the execution would start soon and the youth of Dentam and surrounding areas will immensely benefit from the sporting facilities. He also commended the support of REC foundation in providing support to the hostel and also acknowledged the role of Shri N.B Dahal, Government Contractor for providing a sum of Rs fifty thousand to support the hostel during the pandemic.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector, West Shri Karma R Bonpo, IAS stated that development of Education Sector is an essential goal of the State Government under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim. The State Government has also given priority to the development of youth and sports in the state of Sikkim. Therefore taking forward the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, the District Administration decided to streamline the hostel using funds from various schemes and the CSR support of Rural Electrification Corporation. The District Collector further stated, the REC has been very supportive for the development of the Education Sector and provision of hostel for school students is one important intervention under CSR in West Sikkim. He also thanked Shri N.B Dahal, Chairman, Contractor Association for supporting the hostel earlier during the Pandemic. The District Collector thanked REC CSR foundation for the support and stated that he hoped that many future stars would be produced from the Hostel. He also stated that a committee under the chairmanship of SDM Dentam would look after the day to day functioning of the hostel with active support and guidance from Shri Purna Hang Subba Area Incharge, Dentam Constituency.
