Gangtok, Nov 21: (IPR) Minister for Commerce & Industries, Government of Sikkim, Shri. B.S. Panth launched the Management Information System (MIS) for industries of Sikkim at Tashiling Secretariat today. Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce & Industries Department, Dr. Thomas Chandy was also present on the occasion.
The MIS will provide a platform for all industrial units to record their details on various aspects of industrial operations on a regular basis.
On the occasion, Minister Shri. Panth stated that this was a new initiative of the State Government to make it easier for departments to monitor the activities of the industrial units. He said that this will also make it easier for the units to provide information required by government departments as they don’t need to visit each and every department to convey information.
Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Thomas Chandy, while thanking the Government for its support to the industrial sector said that this new platform would enable the various departments like Labour, DESME, Health to access and share information easily and also analyse the data relating to industrial activities historically in digital mode. He stated that the application would be upscaled subsequently to bring more and more functions into its ambit.
The MIS will be accessible to all industrial units including micro, small and medium industries as well as large industries. The Commerce & Industries Department will provide log-ins to all units and they would be able to log-in and feed information regularly on the system. The analysed data will also be put in the public domain, it was informed.
