First Preparatory Meeting for 7th Kanchendzongkha Winter Tourism Festival , State Level Tamu Lochar Celebration and Christmas Celebration 2019 held at Pelling, West Sikkim

Gyalshing, 13th December ’19 (IPR): The first preparatory meeting for 7th Kanchendzongkha winter Tourism Festival , State Level Tamu Lochar Celebration and Christmas Celebration 2019 was held at the Conference Hall of Narbu Gang Resort, Pelling under the Chairmanship of Minister PHE & Irrigation-cum – Area MLA, Shr. Bhim Hang Subba.

PHE Minister Shri. Bhim Hang Subba and SBS Chairman, Shri. D. B. Gurung is the Chief Patron and Shri. Karma R. Bonpo, IAS, District Collector(W) and Shri. Tenzing L. Lepcha, IPS, SP(W) are the Patron of the above mentioned celebration organizing committee.

Shri. Bonpo, DC,West assured to provide every possible help from the District Administration and directed all departments to participate with full enthusiasm and support to make the event a grant success.

Shri. Keshap Pradhan, General Secretary of the Organizing committee, briefed about the event and called for appropriate suggestions and opinions for the celebration scheduled to be held from December 25th till 31st at Pelling Ground.

Shri. Laxuman Gurung, President of the Tamu association elaborated the plan of various activities to be carried out during Tamu Lochar celebration. He also requested for setting up the extra stalls particularly to showcase the tipical Gurung traditions. He also kept his valuable suggestions on funds generating process and the management process.

As per the agenda, the meeting discussed issues such as tentative expenditure and participation of Government departments for various activities proposed for the celebration.

The meeting had the presence and participation of Heads of Departments, Pelling Tourism Development Association, representatives of Tamu Association, Organizing Committee and the local gentry.

One day program of Development through Credit and Financial Literacy successfully completed at Bermiok, West Sikkim

Gyalshing 13th December, 2019 (IPR): A One day program of ‘Development through Credit and Financial Literacy’ organized by the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Agriculture and Horticulture Department Government of Sikkim in collaboration with SISCO Bank, Central Bank of India and SBI was conducted at the Community Recreational Center which was inaugurated yesterday by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri. P. S. Tamang (Golay).

The Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA Shri Lok Nath Sharma graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The HM was accompanied by Shri. Narad Cintury, Additional Director (AH&VS); Smt. Prativa Tamang BDO Bermiok-Martam, Shri. Y. I. T. Namchu, Asst. General Manager, RBI; Smit. Anuja Pradhan SISCO (Assistant General Manager Gyalshing); Shri. Pradeep Bhandari, Bank Consultant of Sikkim; Shri. Rupen Lamichaney (DDM-NABARD), Branch Managers of different local banks, Panchayats and other dignitaries.

The HM Sharma welcomed all banks authorities and dignitaries from other department. Shri. L. N. Sharma distributed a total of 30 loans to the beneficiaries and houses under the CRHM Scheme to 20 beneficiaries.
In his address, he stressed on the importance of the white revolution and how the people will get benefits from milk production and mentioned that the rate of milk will rise in upcoming days which will give the farmers more support financially.

He thanked the HCM for his declaration of yesterday at the Mahatma Srijunga’s Birth Anniversary regarding the farmers, in which every cattle farmer will be provided with incentives who can produce 10 liters of milk per day. The Minister also mentioned that there is no alternative to hard work and that the Government is will to reward anyone who will work for the betterment of the State through their hardships.

He also highlighted many ongoing program regarding water channel to some remote areas of Gyalshing Bermiok, as well as better transportation mediums from Bermiok to Gyalshing.

During the program different banks authorities presented their benefits of the schemes and assured to work for the welfare of the people.

Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim inspected the ongoing construction of the Court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate

Mangan, December 12 (IPR): On the second day tour of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim to North District, Hon’ble Chief Justice inspected the ongoing construction of the Court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Chungthang, today.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by the District and Session Judge Mr. N. G. Sherpa, Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Mr. Jabyang Dorjee, Registrar General, High Court of Sikkim, Mr. Karma Wangchuk Bhutia, , Additional Registrar Principal Private Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Justice. Mr. Prasanjit Manna

Upon his arrival to Chungthang, Hon’ble Mr. Justice was received by the SDM, Chungthang Mr. Subash Ghimirey and SDPO, Chungthang, Mr. L. B. Chettri at Tourist Guest house, Chungthang and accorded guard honor by the Sikkim Police.

The Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arup Kumar Goswami also visited the temporary Court of Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate which is presently located at SDM Office Chungthang and enquired about facilities of the court.

Thereafter, the Hon’ble Chief Justice and his entourage proceeded towards Yumthang Valley, after visiting the Yumthang valley the Hon’ble will return back to the state capital Gangtok.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister attended the 315th Birth Anniversary of Teyongsi Sirijunga

Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) attended the 315th Birth Anniversary of Teyongsi Sirijunga as Chief Guest organised by Mahatma Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Yen Celebration Committee at Sirijunga Mangheem, Martam, West Sikkim. The Hon’ble Chief Minister was accompanied by Shri. Sangay Lepcha, Deputy Speaker,SLA; Shri. Lok Nath Sharma, Minister IPR; Shri. Bhim Hang Subba, Minister, PHE; Shri. M. K Subba, Political Advisor to HCM; Shri. D. B. Gurung, Chairman (SBS); Shri. R. Telang, Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Horticulture; Shri. S. D. Dhakal, Secretary to HCM; Shri. M. T. Sherpa, Secretary, Horticulture; Shri. R. C. Bhutia, Secretary, Agricultre; Shri. Karma R. Bonpo, DC West; Shri. P. V. G. Satish, ASP West; Shri. Nakul Pradhan, ASP West; HoD of Line Department, Officials and dignitaries.

The HCM in his address appreciated the committee’s efforts in making the 315th Birth Anniversary of Teyongsi Sirijunga a grand success. He congratulated the Limboo Community for their hard work and efforts. He mentioned that the Birth Anniversary is not just an important occasion for Limboo Community but for all Sikkimese populus. HCM stated that the State of Sikkim strives for cultural and communal harmony hence, all Sikkimese festivals are to be viewed as State festival.
He stressed on the importance of farming community and their services to the state and how each individual is responsible for the state’s progress at large. HCM mentioned that the Model Village project inaugurated by him earlier today is an initiative of the Government to enhance the capabilities of those hardworking individuals to do much better. He also advised the beneficiaries to use the given benefits with care and absolute responsibility.

The HCM made various announcements regarding the production of Milk and incentives related to it. He also stated that each individual who can produce 10 litres of milk per day would be given special incentives and similar incentives would also be given to the farmers and producers of agriculture and horticulture products. HCM also urged the public to make good use of Community Recreation Centers. He also announced that the establishment of University of Animal Husbandary at Rungdu, West Sikkim would be placed soon in the Parliament.

He also mentioned that the demand for renovation and beautification of Sirijunga Mangheem would be done at the earliest. He further announced that the Teyongsi Sirijunga Study Center at Hee Patal would be further developed and completed in the coming years.

Whilst addressing the gathering, the HCM made a special mention to the Citizen Amendment Bill (CAB), he informed that the Central Government has given preference to Sikkim and that the 371 F would be protected at all costs. Shri. P. S. Tamang mentioned and thanked the Hon’ble Home Minister for his gesture towards Sikkim and the Article 371 F.

The Hon’ble Minister in his address mentioned his happiness for the program and its success. He extended his gratitude towards the HCM for his presence which made the event more auspicious. He also informed that the Model Village would be a good initiative for the public where all necessary equipments and other materials was provided by the Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandary Department. He also directed that the Official to help the beneficiaries with the given equipments.

The tokens for various schemes, equipments and other necessary items under Agricultre, horticulture, animal husbandry and Fisheries to encourage the farming community of West Sikkim were given to beneficiaries by HCM. Inauguration of Model Village for Chingthang GPU and 2 wards of Bermiok-Berthang GPU was done by the HCM. Also the Bermiok Community Hall was also inaugurated by HCM prior to the program.
During the program a Book titled as “Jholangi” authored by Shri. S D Dhakal translated in Limboo language by Shri. K. B. Limboo released was also released by HCM at the event.

Mapping of Tribal Sports Talent

Mangan, December 11: Inaugural programme of “Mapping of Tribal Sports Talent” organised by Tribal Research Institute, SJ&WD,Government of Sikkim in collaboration with Sports & Youth Affairs Department, GOS and funded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India was declared open by the Honourable Minster to RMDD,Ecclesiastical and Cooperation Department Shri Sonam Lama on today at Phodong, North Sikkim.

The primary objective of the program is to provide a platform to identify an innate sport talents from the tribal children in Sikkim and introspect to inculcate such talents so that these children can get an opportunity to horn their skills in a chosen games in a global stage.

The organising department, with an aim to strengthen, preserve and revive an indigenous game of Sikkim conducted “Archery” amongst the students of Phodong Monastic School where the childrens gleefully participated in the event.

Mapping of Tribal Sports Talents will subsequently be held in all the four districts of Sikkim. Tribal childrens from the age group of 11- 14 years will be encourage to participate in various discipline of sports.

The Chief Guest of the programme, Shri Sonam Lama, Minister to RMDD, Ecclesiastical and Cooperation Department appreciated the initiatives made by Tribal Research Institute, GOS and Sports and Youth Affairs Department, GOS. He encouraged all the students of Phodong Monastic School to make a regular habit to develop their potential in sports where they can also have a healthy lifestyle.

Equally, Mr. Kuber Bhandari, Secretary to Sports and Youth Affairs Department, GOS committed to include students from the Monastic School in inter school games competition from the coming academic years. Similarly, he committed to extend all possible help to endeavor “Mapping of Tribal Sports Talents “in Sikkim a grand success.

The programme also had a presence of Mr. Anand Pradhan, Project Director cum Special Secretary, SJ&WD, GOS, Senior Officers from Sports and Youth Affairs Department (Mangan and Gangtok),Officers from TRI, GOS and the local public of the area.

Chief Justice of High Court of Sikkim visited the District and Sessions Court

Mangan, December 11, (IPR): Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, Chief Justice of High Court Sikkim who is on a two days tour to North Sikkim visited the District and Sessions Court , Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum- Civil Judge, Civil Judge-cum- judicial Magistrate of Mangan, North Sikkim, today.

The Chief Justice was accompanied by Mr. Karma Wangchuk Bhutia, Registrar General, High Court of Sikkim, Mr. Prasanjit Manna, Additional Registrar Principal Private Secretary to Hon’ble Chief Justice.

Upon his arrival, Justice Arup Kumar Goswami was warmly received by the District and Session Judge Mr. N. G. Sherpa, Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate, Mr. Jabyang Dorjee, District Magistrate, North, Mr. Tenzing T. Kaleon and other officials and dignitaries along with guard of honor by the Sikkim Police.

The Hon’ble Mr. Justice Arup Kumar Goswami thoroughly visited the District and Session Court, Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum- Civil Judge, Civil Judge-cum- judicial Magistrate, Mangan. He interacted with the Officials and staffs.

Apart from Mr. Justice Arup Kumar Goswami also inspected the ongoing construction of additional court build and has directed to DE/Building and contractor to expedite the work without compromising the quality of work as to submit utilization certificate on stipulated time. And he visited the newly constructed Chief Judicial Magistrate Banglow.

The Chief Justice, High Court of Sikkim along with his entourage will be visiting the Court of Civil Judge-cum- Judicial Magistrate, Chungthang, Sub-division, North Sikkim on Thursday i.e. 12th December. On the same day he will also visit Yumthang Valley after he will be proceeding to Gangtok, East Sikkim.

National Handloom Expo 2019-2020

Gangtok,December 11: (IPR) The National Handloom Expo 2019-2020 under National Handloom Development Programme kicked off at the premises of Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom,Zero Point here today.

The mega exhibition starting w.e.f Dec 11-Dec 24 is being organised by the Sikkim Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd,an apex body under Directorate of Handlooms and Handicrafts and is being sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handloom),Ministry of Textiles,Government of India.

Chief Guest,Dr.Thomas Chandy, Additional Chief Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department inaugurated the Expo. Also present were Smt Binita Thapa,Director,D.H.H,Shri Ram Debnath,representative of Weavers Service Centre (WSC),Kolkata,Senior Officers of D.H.H,press personals,staff and trainees of D.H.H and local gentry.

The Chief Guest visited each stall and interacted with the participants and expressed keen interest and happiness in the various activities.

The National Handloom Expo is a PAN India Programme and a total numbers of 60 stalls have been allotted to various weavers and SHGs from seven different states viz ,Assam,Bihar,J&K,West Bengal,Gujarat,Uttar Pradesh and the host state Sikkim.

A wide variety of sarees, bed sheets, dress materials, household items, bed-covers, bed-sheets, and fabrics from various parts of the country are available for sale at an affordable price.

The Expo is basically being organised to provide a platform for the artisans,weavers,sellers and buyers to converge and create awareness vis-a-vis the handloom sector as an employment and income generating industry.

Further,the Expo also offers an opportunity for creating sustainable cottage industry in every home and village as envisioned by the State Government.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister met with the Trustees of Denzong Charities

Gangtok December 11: (IPR) The Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, met with the Trustees of Denzong Charities,who proposes to set up a unique, world-class professional development university rooted in Buddhist Philosophy in Gangtok.
The University will have College of Buddhist Studies, College of Advanced Professional Development and College of Innovation in Education.
It will be developed in collaboration with renowned Buddhist and other academic institutions of the world.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister urged them to aspire for international standards and focus on making the youth of Sikkim ready for the world, while being enlightened in Buddhist philosophy.
He also said that establishing a Buddhist University was in the Manifesto of SKM party.
