The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department distributed 24 number of milching cows and calves

Gyalshing, October 3: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department in coordination with Office of DC ( West) distributed 24 number of milching cows and calves from the premises of SC Bhawan, Chongrang to the beneficiaries of Tsong and Chongrang under Yuksom Tashiding constituency today.
Shri Basant Tamang, Chairman ,Transport Department, graced the programme as the chief guest.
The program started with a welcome address by Dr Pranisha Chettri,VO,Tashiding which was followed by a technical session on scientific feeding of livestock,sanitation and hygiene,common local diseases – their prevention and control,update on ongoing FMD and Brucellosis vaccination program in the West District.
Shri Kamal Pradhan, ADDO (W) gave an extensive talk on clean milk production,milking techniques and hygienic milk transportation etc.
The chief guest in his address gave a clarion call to one and all to become self-reliant and to understand the dignity of labour. He urged people to correctly utilize the benefits given by the government and think big and work hard to achieve their dreams.
Additional Director (W) Dr N M Cintury in his address informed the farmers about the components of the scheme from which they were being provided milching cows like 3 years insurance coverage – it’s modalities and process of claim and also about DBT of incentive for purchase of concentrates and additives.He encouraged the farmers to derive maximum benefits from the Rs 8 per litre incentive scheme being provided by the Government. He also highlighted the piggery incentive scheme which will be officially launched this month. The gathering was also informed that in order to reach service at the farmers doorstep, ADDO (W) shall be visiting house of each and every beneficiary of Chongrang block who were provided the milching cows and record their progress in terms of milk production and solving their problems,if any, related to milk production.
SDM Yuksom in his address encouraged the farmers to increase milk production thereby uplifting their economic status and create a brand for the block in terms of milk and poultry production and bee keeping.
The vote of thanks was proposed by VO/Tashiding after which the beneficiaries were alloted the cows as per lottery system.
With today’s distribution, the program – ‘ Distribution of milching cows to farmers of Chongrang block to supplement farmers income under NEC Fund 2020-21’ has come to a closure
