The Hon’ble Chief Minister convened a high level meeting at Manan Kendra

Gangtok, April 10(IPR): Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang convened a high level meeting at Manan Kendra, today. The meeting was held to take stock of the situation in the wake of the second wave of COVID-19 and to organize “Teeka Utsav” or vaccination festival in the State.
The meeting was attended by the Hon’ble Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary Shri S. C. Gupta, DGP, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special DGP, Heads of Departments, District Collectors, Superintendent of Police and senior officials of various departments.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the present COVID status, vaccination drive and treatment in the State and also deliberated on the issues that needed urgent attention and interventions from all the stakeholders.
Hon’ble Chief Minister in his address said that in the span of a year-long fight against COVID-19, the State has done a tremendous effort to tackle the virus in the State. He also lauded the support and cooperation of the general public in the fight against the virus in 2020 till date and solicited the same to continue with it in the future as well. The Chief Minister also appealed to follow the five fold strategy i.e. Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID appropriate behavior and Vaccination to deal with the virus. He also gave directions to Heads of the State Government Departments to take out the lists of all employees who have attained 45 years and above to encourage them to take the vaccine in this drive. Similarly, he also directed the Police and Information and Public Relations Departments to generate massive awareness to the general people to come forward and participate in the Teeka Utsav. Likewise, directions were also given to organise awareness campaigns and publicity on the second wave of coronavirus and sensitize the general public in the State. The Chief Minister also directed all the Heads of Departments including DCs, SPs to chart out a road map for a comprehensive strategy to take the message across all section of society and disseminate the information with regard to COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, Dawai Bhi Kadai Bhi, and to participate in Teeka Utsav who are eligible people so that the vaccination to targeted population could be achieved.
The Minister for Health Dr. Mani Kumar Sharma also highlighted the State Government’s initiative with regard to COVID-19 and urged everyone to strictly follow preventive measures and guidelines of the Central and State Government.
Chief Secretary Shri S.C. Gupta in his introductory remarks stated that following the direction of Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, Teeka Ustav- Vaccination Festival will be held in Sikkim from April 11 to April 14, 2021, to accelerate the COVID-19 vaccination in the State. He also informed that the venue for Teeka Utsav would be in Gymnasium Hall, Paljor Stadium and urged everyone from the age group of 45 years and above to take the vaccine. He also gave an overview of the COVID-19 status in the State. The Chief Secretary also mentioned the recent guidelines issued on 31st of March and directed the Heads of the Departments to implement the same in letter and spirit.
DG cum Secretary Health Dr Pempa T. Bhutia gave a powerpoint presentation on the COVID-19 scenario in the State and action taken report by the Department till date.
