The Village level Children’s Parliament of Mangshila Tibuk, GPU, North Sikkim was formed

Mangan, 17th Oct 2020: The Village level Children’s Parliament of Mangshila Tibuk, GPU, North Sikkim was formed today for the children of the said GPU.
The program was organized by the District Child Protection Unit, North under Child Protection Scheme, Social Justice & Welfare Dept. in coordination with the Village level Child Protection Committee, Mangshila-Tibuk GPU.
The program began with the Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, North, Smt Mingma Doma Bhutia highlighting on the Child Protection Scheme under the Dept and the role of Child Welfare Committee. The program also had an interactive game to explain the four pillars of UNCRC-The rights of Survival, Participation, Protection and Development conducted by Phuphu Doma and Vishal Tamang, DCPU Team.
After explaining the purpose of the Children’s Parliament and the roles and responsibilities of each Minister, the election was conducted in a sociocratic manner facilitated by the DCPO North, Smt.Wendy Lepcha. The election was successfully concluded with the Child Parliamentarians taking an oath conducted by Smt. Meena Maya Limboo, Panchayat President-cum-Chairperson, Village Level Child Protection Committee of the GPU who also assured the children full support and guidance from the Committee and encouraged the children to speak for their rights.
