Valedictory function of Monastic and Sanskrit Pathshala Teachers Training and Orientation Programme

12th February (IPR) : A Valedictory function of three days Monastic and Sanskrit Pathshala Teachers Training and Orientation Programme which started from 10th February 2020 till 12th February was held today at Janta Bhawan with Shri Sonam Lama Hon’ble Minister Of Ecclesiastical Affairs Department, Cooperation Department, Rural Management & Development Department Government of Sikkim as a Chief Guest.

Shri.S.T Tamang Secretary of Ecclesiastical Department, Mrs. Kunchok Doma Additional Secretary, (Ecclesiastical Deptt.)Mr. Tenzing Gelak Joint Director(Ecclesiastical Deptt.) Mrs Chunki Lhamu Deputy Secretary(Ecclesiastical Deptt.), OSD Mr. Kita Sherpa(Ecclesiastical Deptt) Resource Persons, participating Teachers and officials and staffs of Ecclesiastical Department were present at the function.

The Chief Guest in his address expressed his gratitude to be present in between all the learned Monastic and Sanskrit Teachers. He said that the Dharmic/ Sanskrit traditions have lived together in peace and mutual respect sharing a common culture and common aspiration to the highest truth. He stated that teachers is a part of team where teaching is not an isolated work, teachers need to collaborate, Co create, plan and monitor and work together. He said that dharmic education is essential to peace and understanding for all humanity and teaching are not only a mere object of academic study and research but a part of daily Sadhana and Spiritual practice.

Further adding the Chief Guest stated that Dharmic/ Sanskrit education signifies that makes life and universe possible and includes duties, rights, laws, conduct, virtues and right way of living and the spirit of teaching must remain alive in the minds and hearts of teachers and students not only at personal level but also at an intellectual level.

He expressed that Teachers / Gurus is the one who take out ignorance from us our teachers are our gurus that’s why Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the auspicious day of Gurupournima to offer gratitude at the feet of teachers.

Later Hon’ble Minister shared little about his professional and personal life adding a zest to the valedictory function. He appreciated and cited examples of all the IAS Officers of Sikkim and urged everyone present there to appreciate all the people who brings laurels to the State.

Hon’ble Minister mentioned certain points that were discussed during the interaction session earlier. He said that teachers should work hard so that they can be recognized either as a State Awardee or even at National Awardee.

Secondly he mentioned that extension will be given under certain criteria.

Thirdly Monastic and Sanskrit Pathshala will be treated equally like other Academic Schools.

Fourthly he specially mentioned that Retired Teachers will be treated with Golden Handshake.

Lastly he mentioned little about Bodh Gaya( Bihar)where Sikkim Guest House/ Sikkim Temple should be taken care off as lots of people from State visit there not forgetting to mention about the Sikkim Government property(land)which is not be being utilized and he gave assurance that it will be utilized for local public purpose at the time of his tenure.

The three day long training programme included teachings of skill development, Buddhism Philosophy, Tibetan Grammar, Group Activities for class 1 and 2 , Monastic Rules and Regulations, Sikkim Monastic History, Question set up and evaluation, Nayakarna, Sanskrit Philosophy, Practice of Sanskrit Sudha, Sikkim Service Rules and about Child Abuse and it’s awareness by Amrit Sharma( Social Worker)from Social Welfare Department,Sikkim.

Later there was distribution of Certificates to all the trainers and teachers who participated.
